What's new

Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.7 Beta is now available

Works just fine on my rt-be92u and my father's router rt-be92u as we have similar models, we mostly now use more 6 ghz most of the time, so 2.4 and 5 ghz we barely use more on our routers

Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.7 Beta 1 is now available for supported models. The focus of this release is the removal of AiCloud (for security reasons), components upgrade, and a GPL update for the GT-BE19000AI (as its initial release was based on a fairly early GPL version).

Changes since 3006.102.6:

Code:
3006.102.7 (xx-xxx-2026)
  - NOTE: AiCloud has been removed from Asuswrt-Merlin due
to its poor security track record. This also includes
cloud syncing features such as Asuswebstorage or
Dropbox syncing with USB folder. Use a VPN if you
need secure remote access to your data.

  - UPDATED: Merged GPL 102_40399 (GT-BE19000AI only)
  - UPDATED: OpenVPN to 2.6.19.
  - UPDATED: Dropbear to 2025.89.
  - UPDATED: nettle to 3.10.2.
  - UPDATED: dnsmasq to 2.93-test2 (includes a couple of DNSSEC
             fixes over 2.92)
  - UPDATED: openssl-3.0 to 3.0.19 (GT-BE19000AI only)
  - UPDATED: tor to 0.4.8.22.
  - CHANGED: Added new 2024 DNSSEC trust anchor, which will
start being used in October 2026.
  - FIXED: IPv6 blocking of DoT servers (dave14305)
  - FIXED: Multiple minor CVE for OpenSSL 1.1: CVE-2025-68160,
           CVE-2025-69418, CVE-2025-69419, CVE-2025-69420,
           CVE-2025-69421, CVE-2026-22795 and CVE-2026-22796
           (backports by RSDNTWK)
  - FIXED: Missing UPnP settings on models with multiservice
           WAN support.
  - FIXED: ntpd options missing when operating in WISP mode.
  - REMOVED: AiCloud support, due to security reasons.

Please keep discussions on this specific beta release.

I want to highlight my observation, which is persistent in the current beta RT-BE92U_3006_102.7_beta1 version too.

If I installed RT-BE92U_3006_102.4_0, all LAN ports work correctly without any errors. 🟢
If I upgrade to RT-BE92U_3006_102.5_0, RT-BE92U_3006_102.6_0, or RT-BE92U_3006_102.7_beta1, all LAN ports exhibit abnormal behavior. 🔴

I have reiterated the following version check of the official release
1. ASUS RT-BE92U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38962 release date 2025/08/27 🟢
2. ASUS RT-BE92U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38979 release date 2025/10/31 🟢
3. ASUS RT-BE92U Firmware version 3.0.0.6.102_38980 release date 2025/11/18 🟢

No, the Guest network doesn't cause any issues in my environment.
It might be worth checking RT-BE92U_3006_102.4_0 to RT-BE92U_3006_102.5_0 to determine the impact on LAN communication.

It would be greatly appreciated if you could address part of the new release.

Not possible, this release does not contain new GPL code, and with the Chinese New Year holiday coming, no new GPL will be available for weeks, which is why this release will largely focus on updating other components. All I can do is double check that the SDK components for the RT-BE92U were fully merged with the last GPL merge (that model uses different components, and has a 32-bit kernel).

@ashishrc - I would try testing with something other than the Google Nest setup. I've got a laptop connected directly to the LAN ports and it run the Speedtest app on it and it always maxes out the network connection regardless of firmware version. I would also suggest trying a different network cable.

My issues with the RT-BE92U are all wireless related to some weird hostapd authentication issues that isn't playing friendly with this release.

A dirty update from RT-BE92U_3006_102.6_0.

Issue: When I manually run a USB drive error check, Auto Logout occurs, even though the timer is set to 30 minutes.

And now there's a persistent problem: only WiFi clients with an Intel card show Beamforming usage. All the others, which worked fine with the AX88U, don't.

Installed on GT-BE19000AI. Everything seems fine. The only thing that I have noticed is the Wifi Insight section on the Dashboard is not updating...same on Edge, Brave, and Firefox browsers.

Any possibility of BT10 getting Merlin firmware?
Someone else will just post the same reply eventually, so I will be the one to politely point you to RMerlin's FAQ on this standard question.

What most folks do is buy one they know is supported, but I fully understand there are folks who buy an ASUS Router then later discover (the amazing) Merlin FW, then hope their unit is or may be supported. This happens often enough for a FAQ response.

I have this too. I checked with the last official fw (102_40425) and it showed the graph. Presumably the following source code that will be merged already includes it and will work with Merlin as well. There are still minor bugs with the interface. For example, sometimes you need to refresh the page for the changes to appear. Also on the internet speed page, if multiple tests have been run, not all of them are visible in the history list at the bottom and you can't scroll down.
I noticed that in the system info, HW acceleration is disabled. Runner: Disabled - Flow Cache: Disabled. I don't know if this is a bug, I tried disabling everything that could affect it, but it didn't switch to enable. The download speed on the PC doesn't even reach 400 Mbps. My internet connection is 1000Mbps/300Mbps. Is HW acceleration disabled for you too?

HW acceleration is enabled for me. Most likely this is why your download speeds are affected.

Try what it is this post about enabling runner and flow cache.

Try what it is this post about enabling runner and flow cache.

In the meantime, I found the cause of the error. I restored a previous backup, because I remembered that hw acceleration worked. After the restore, it was fine. Then I turned on the bandwidth limiter on one of the guest networks. This turned off the hw acceleration. However, when I turned off the bandwidth limiter, the hw acceleration remained disabled, even after a reboot. So only restoring the previous backup (when the bandwidth limiter has never been turned on and off before) set it back to enabled.

Short answer: No — there’s no realistic possibility of Merlin ever supporting the BT10.

Asuswrt‑Merlin only supports models that use Asus’ standard Broadcom-based firmware. The BT10 runs a completely different platform and firmware stack, so it’s not something Merlin can be ported to.
If you want Merlin features, the usual approach is:
• Use a supported Asus router as your main router/WAN gateway
• Put the BT10 in AiMesh node mode so it still contributes Wi‑Fi coverage

That setup works well (see my signature) and keeps the BT10 useful without needing custom firmware.

I cannot reproduce your issue. My laptop is currently connected to a LAN port of an RT-BE92U, and I can get my full fibre Gbps when running a speedtest (940/940).

All AX88U Pro & AX86U Pro Units Have been working great.
Thank You

Been running the 3006.102.7 Beta 1 on my GT-BE98 Pro for a few days now. I was originally going to wait till Beta 2 came out, but I saw all the good reviews and it seemed most the kinkiness was worked out in the alpha. But seriously, I am still trying to see if there were any improvements to wireless. So far, the speed tests are looking nice.

BE88U here. wifi has issues. try accesing a webpage or the gui while downloading a file. it slows down to a crawl.

There was zero change to the SDK and wireless drivers in this release.
