What's new

Release Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.7 is now available

got sloppy and forgot to detach the nas before upgrading. all went well thankfully but we still have the logging off glitch when doing a "rescan" of the nas. too insignificant to sweat though.

. . . as always, many thanks to the wizardry of merlin for releasing this maintenance update so quickly.

3006.102.7_2 is now available.
Shows 102.7 still after update... I'll redownload and try again, I'll leave this here just in case. BE88U

Edit:
So two attempts and both to no avail, not even the 'applying settings', just the please wait and then a reboot..

Then I downloaded the OneDrive version and it worked first time.. verily odd.

I have an ASUS RT-BE7200 (Best Buy Version) / RT-BE88U router.

I am seeing an interesting issue for the first time. I did a dirty upgrade, but did do a reset afterwards as well and have the same problem (Considering downgrading but want advice before I do).

The router does not have an issue on regular reboot through the UI.
But if the router looses power and the modem (Arris S34) stays on, then when the router turns back on the time is out of sync (its Dec 31, 2023).
NTP sync keeps failing, and since time is incorrect, the router is unable to actually get a connection to the internet through the modem and unable to sync with NTP service going into a loop of incorrect time and no internet.
Setting the time manually over ssh does did not fix the issue.

Powering off both the modem and the router, and then turning them on at the same time did fix the problem, and the time magically gets set (I am assuming no internet on the modem on reboot somehow delays the NTP sync? not sure).
Have been able to reliably reproduce this issue twice now.

Never had this issue with the previous version of the firmware, 102.6.
Hmmm, similar issue with AT&T BGW320-500 and three different brand routers now. Finally figured out that the routers were provided IP Passthrough address correctly, BUT no Internet service, (red WAN LED on all three), until I used the Broadband Restart option on the BGW GUI. Yes the date was December 2023 but I think around the 15th.

It took me the whole weekend to finally reach that solution....

I have this set but it does not seem to be picking up since it's not blocking adult content

If I'm not mistaken those DNS entries need to go in the LAN settings as well.
Interesting...........I was just following opendns setup instructions and worked like that before

windows says not opendns family

LAN worth a try I guess

done and no change

The WAN dns setting is what the router uses, the LAN setting is what the router tells connected devices to use. If you leave the lan selections blank then dns will use that setting in the WAN.

anyone know if the new stock asus firmware '3006-102.37421' is merged with the 107.1 or would that be another version? anyway thanks for the continued support Merlin.

asus' changelog
Bug Fixes and Enhancements
- Improved WiFi roaming behavior to reduce temporary disconnections in some scenarios.
- Improved roaming compatibility for certain client devices.

Security Fixes

- Hardened environment variable handling.
- Hardened protections around specific logging/command composition flows to reduce potential injection risks.
- Patched a command injection risk in a specific network diagnostic function.
It is quite impossible to determine what fixes / improvements may be included in any particular version of Merlinware - even Merlin himself seems to be mostly unaware. Many years back he would base his Merlinware on a known GPL numbered release which had already been available and tested as a stock release [far fewer models back then].
For several years now - Asus builds a special multi-model GPL for Merlin under a number not seen for any specific router model he is building his Merlinware for.

Take my main router - GT-AX6000 for example. Stock release for 2025/10/27 was 3006.102.34860 whereas just a month later [2025/11/25] Merlin Merged stock GPL 3006.102.37351 in his Merlinware 3006.102.6! That's pretty close to the Stock version you refer to above - so it could well be that most of those latest "fixes and improvements" have been embedded within Merlinware since November last year???

So ... having had my wings clipped once before by the Maestro on GPL inclusions or not 😁 ... just pop a chill pill and know that he continues to provide by far the best firmware for a LOT of selected models ... all in his SPARE time! 😎.

Is this new release from yesterday based on the latest Asus one? Because this is the one where they have finally pusehed the fix for all my Sonos testing!

Indeed

But it isn’t and I don’t know why. It used to though.

For the RT-AX88U Pro and almost all other Asus routers? No. No change in the GPL. Only the RT-BE92 got a new GPL. See the change log RMerlin posted one page back for Asus-Merlin 3006.102.7_2:

I suspect that the GPL that is provided in April/May will likely include many of the fixes in the recent releases that have come out, including the BE88U and BE86U. Sitting at 2 weeks of stability across all devices for the first time since transitioning to the BE series routers in October, I am happy to wait for the next updates that do include the latest GPL changes, even if it takes several months.

yeah you might be happy to wait... but as the owner of a few 700 dollar router (GT-be98pro on mesh network !) its very annoying to not have a stable network - It appears that the latest GPL helps with some stability - it isn't perfect - I'm hoping the release that @RMerlin gets includes even more fixes. This router honestly has stunk !

If you have existing stability issues with Merlin and nodes, and cannot run nodes on newer GPL that resolves (since they can differ between Merlin and stock ASUS), then I understand and agree with your frustration. I had a case open with ASUS due to my BE86U node being completely unstable with any version until they released this latest GPL update. I hope that a quick resolution comes to everyone as this appears to have been a persisting issue for a while showing in similar ways across this forum for several months.

Dirty upgrade from 102.6 to 102.7_2 since two hours and did not noticed any issues so far.

Dirty upgrade from 102.7 to 102.7_2 without a hitch. Steamrolling as usual!
