After more than 3 days with 378.50_beta3_ta I found this log messages every few seconds:

Code:

My 5Ghz wifi shows as disconnected (only half green WI-FI icon and the cooler status "disconnected" for 5Ghz under Current Temperatures).

Recovered after reboot the AC87U.

If I do press the overclock button my 5ghz band is unusable....

I am on RT-AC68U Australia.
Hi,

The overclock button is broken "for ages". But you can easily overclock by setting the NVRAM variable clkfreq - just do a small search in the forum and you will be a happy overclocker as I am! :D

Currently my AC68U runs on 1200,666 speed and gives me download from the USB3 disk with constant 500 MBit/50 MBytes per secound!

With kind regards
Joe

I get those messages every time I turn on my wifi printer. This is my wifi printer looking for a bootp server, which home printer users don't generally use. If you can go into the printer's configuration and turn off BOOTP, you won't see these messages. I asked my printer mfg. about how to tell the printer to stop asking for a bootp server since I couldn't find a setting for that, and they told me that this cannot be turned off since looking for a bootp server is done in firmware. So after asking them to add a configuration setting that would turn this off and having them tell me that wasn't going to happen, I just ignore these messages. No problem from ignoring them.

Thanks for reply.

But seems that MAC address 00:26:86:00:00:00 is from Quantenna driver:

Code:
Company
    Quantenna Communcations, Inc.
Address
    3450 W. Warren Ave.
    Fremont CA 94538
    UNITED STATES
Range
    00:26:86:00:00:00 - 00:26:86:FF:FF:FF
Type
    IEEE MA-L

I have too a wifi printer, but it isn't turned on from a while. Maybe your idea would be possible if my printer works at 5Ghz, but it doesn't.

The Quantenna loads it's firmware via bootp. That is how Merlin explained it to me. In earlier firmware's for the AC87 you would see the tftp server being called to load it.

I know I am probably stupid to ask this but - why does my boot-loader (1.0.2.0) say that my router is not able to overclock and yet it is a feature of your firmware?

I must say thanks very much because everything else is absolutely fine :)

If I do press the overclock button my 5ghz band is unusable....

I am on RT-AC68U Australia.

Because not everyone has the newer bootloader.

It uses tftp over static IPs, not BOOTP.

What is the deal with Asus routers and IPv6 ?? On my 87U every single time i enable native IPv6 my client list shows 0 clients. Also the 5 Ghz band has been shutting itself down during the night a reboot is required to get it back up and running. Maybe its time to return this for another manufacture.

For RT-AC87U users who want something to tinker with, I uploaded a new test build:

http://www.mediafire.com/download/5s1ft5c8bmv25v7/RT-AC87U_3.0.0.4_378.50_beta3b_ta.zip

(the version will still report as beta3_ta - this is normal). This is a test build I compiled last night to test on my own router, it has the GPL 4129 code merged in (as it contained a few fixes, including one related to the RT-AC87U loopback). There are also a couple of post-beta2 fixes included.

Speaking of GPL 4129 I noticed some kind of TOR client in a directory, is such a feature planned by ASUS?

Need some advices...

Hi,

I have used 378.50_2 (rt87u) for a week now, very stable! :)

I got a new version for the AICloud app to my IOS devices and now I cant browse my connected usb3 disk (fine if I go through the website). Anyone will similar issues?

and a question:
When I do a speedtest I get without the router connected about 700/700Mbit with the router connected I get 400/700Mbit. The thing I have noticed that the CPU utilizes 100% (core 1) when I test the download and only around 30-40% for the upload. The test is done at Windows 7 x64 4Gb with a 1Gbit NIC (cat6).
Could it something in that area that holds my number down?

I have NAT enabled and firewall but no QoS or traffic analyzes is enabled.

Will this router "eat" so much download speed?? I hope not...

Regards,
Christian

Sorry to bring this reply back to the top but I still wonder if I am the only guy here that "suffer" regarding AIcloud app and WAN download-speed.

Regards,
Christian

You may well find that 1200,800 works too. According to the ESMT memory chip literature, the M15F2G16128A -ADBG memory chip is rated at 800 megahertz. In turn Wikidev https://wikidevi.com/wiki/ASUS_RT-AC68U lists the AC68u memory chips as having an "ADB" suffix.

Of course am not advising anyone to clock the memory to 800, the fact that a couple of my AC68u clients with 50_beta 2 software have had success at 800 could be a fluke. An interesting thing is that the 50_beta software shows, during a large-file copy off of a USB 3 flash drive, a slightly lower percent CPU utilization on one of the CPUs. With a clkfreq=1200,800.

I just trying. WIFI (both 2,4Ghz and 5Ghz) has been reduced its throughput.

Downloading an .iso file (from local network) from an iPhone 6+ with the 5Ghz band, the maximum bandwidth is 20MB/s
Same file, same conditions in 2,4Ghz, maximum speed is 2MB/s.
Both are done test next to the router.

Thanks for your great work!

Update:
back to previous beta and get best wifi performance

Traffic Analyzer

Hey Merlin I installed your latest betahttp://www.mediafire.com/download/5s..._beta3b_ta.zip

So far so good but I cannot enable traffic analyzer. When I do the grey screen comes up stating the ip address has changed. I cannot access it until I reboot the router at the point, when I can get back in, traffic analyzer is off.

Did you try resetting the settings after upgrading it?

There's been zero change to the 2.4 GHz wireless code in this build.

On 5Ghz, the speed is down as well?! If yes, how much in compares with 50.beta3_ta?

Thank you.

I have to aske:
I have "HW acceleration Enabled (CTF only)"
But I have on another router: "HW acceleration Enabled (CTF+AF)"
What have I enabled to lose (CTF+AF)
