I would say more than just a wireless issue. After going to the Shibby Tomato build I no longer notice the hesitation during web browsing even on a wired ethernet computer. I'm also noticing that things like YouTube, Sling TV, and Netflix now start streaming in HD right away rather than after a little while of watching.

I noticed the new official beta includes pretty bigger user interface changes and WLAN perfomance is much better than in previous version.Latest rt-ac3200 merlin UI is a bit broken.All wlan network names (3) does not appear properly..

Ok do this test make sure wired.

Disable CTF on the asus firmware, see if it has the higher speed ramp up.

I wonder if CTF somehow causing this problem for you.

You might want to try turning off Traffic Analyzer if that feature is not important to you. I had similar issues and turning off Traffic Analyzer solved it for me.

Well tried that - worked for about a week with no drops, then again today - lost both Wifi and LAN connections - had to again powercycle the router to get everything back...

Knowing there is no issue using PIA I tried using free vpn server from vpngate.net and it turns out using Exclusive working good. So the problem is the settings from Ipvanish, but why using tomato shibby works fine with Ipvanish.

Can you share how you got vpngate.net working?
