Please read the second post of this thread.

Sorry Merlin, I missed that line. I must have glazed over as I do normally read the release notes :) Great, hopefully QOS/Traffic will get sorted soon.

I sorted the stop-start on streaming from one AX86U router to another AX86U over the internet using the same ISP in same town. The receiving AX86U, despite being factory reset, needed another factory reset and I didn't add the custom device icons until last (JFFS storage). All is good now on the stop-start streaming. It didn't affect streaming from NOWTV/Amazon just to another AX86U over internet (HTTPS). Both had the MTU set of 1500 too. Have no idea why another factory reset was needed as a backup file was not used. I used the WPS button and power switch method for factory reset. On every reset I got the Asus setup new network web page so both attempts had "reset".

I do still have the icons showing randomly large and drop down boxes for devices automatically showing when going into DHCP, Wake ON LAN or wireless MAC pages. I seem to fix the GUI by going into Device MAP / Network Map and then back into the page and the icons get fixed and in the case of the DHCP UI page, the icons can then be clicked to amend anything about the device rather than an unclickable blank space on the cell. Edge Chromium Browser used v87, and cleared cache and tried on phone, tablet and computer.

Those are my temps to with an RT-AC88U, no appreciable CPU load. From everything I've read here and elsewhere, these temperatures are well within spec.

I know it was well noticed here, but to add some specific logs.
After upgrading to 386.1 Beta 3 (from beta 2) i had a noticeable increase in temperatures on my aimesh node RT-AC86U . Here my log with a custom script that logs temperature

Important to mention that it only happened on this node, my master router RT-AX88U and another node RT-AC68U didn't had this behavior.

[edit] And after the command "pwr config --wait on" the temperature reduced, still a few degrees over the previous condition, but seems to be ok.

I uploaded a very rough test build of the RT-AX86U on which I only copied the newer Trend Micro engine, there has been no other change.

I only did a quick speedtest to ensure the new engine was working, I didn't do any further test. I am still waiting to get newer GPL drops to merge the whole thing.

Dirty install over beta2, no issues so far.

Did some investigation on my wan disconnection issue on my ax86.

When I have guest wifi 1 enabled and then change some setting concering wan/lan/wifi ==> wan disconnection (red led) ==> need reboot te restore connection
Without guest wifi 1, no issues.

Tried this with beta2, beta3 and beta4

Tried with latest stockfirmware from assus: 3.0.0.4_386_41535 and it seems that the issues is resolved. So please @RMerlin merge latest GPL soon for AX86 ... Looks very promising!

To clarify, I am talking about parental control time scheduling not wifi time sheduling.
Hmm interesting.... The Parental restrictions on the 58Us are working fine..

Dec 28th: Beta 3 is now available. Note that the RT-AX86U is a Frankenbuild with pieces from four different releases. Changes since beta 2:

hi Merlin, quick note - WAN Aggregation doesn't seem to be working properly - tried both builds beta 2 / beta 3 and the error remains; 'wan port' network cable un-plugged while LAN 4 shows it connected at 1gb (for WAN Aggregation have two cables connected WAN+LAN 4 on this router). Going back to Stock 386 immediately restores the WAN Aggregation/2gb (on xfinity gb plan wihich pulls 1.2gb) .. Thanks!

Thanks - AX-86U test build Beta is working for me using a dirty install on Beta3 (which was a dirty install on Beta 2 :)). With Adaptive QoS and manually set bandwidth, I'm seeing expected (e.g.: reduced) download and upload bandwidths on speedtest on a WiFi connected laptop, and FlexQoS is showing expected rates. Bravo!

Update: for AX-86U test build Beta VPN client upload traffic is now displayed correctly as Upload Bandwidth in QoS - WAN/LAN Bandwidth Monitor page and on FlexQoS page (though that same VPN client download traffic is still displayed as upload bandwidth, same as shown in 384.18 on an AC66U_B1). Looks like Asus and/or Trend Micro are making progress :).

FYI: I'm seeing 2.5 x data speeds on that VPN client with AX-86U Beta3+test build versions (up to 50Mbps download) comparing with AC66U_B1 on 384.18 (up to 20Mbps download). My ISP provides 100-120Mbps download.

Is the parental control time scheduling working with the test build on the ax86u?

On AX-86U with test build following Beta3, AiProtection - Time Scheduling seems to be working as expected. A printer that was set for restricted internet could not access firmware update information over the internet, and after giving it one-hour access it's now updating its firmware.

You are spot on. You cannot change the laws of physics.

Unless you're adding the resistance in parallel in the circuit ;)

RT-AX58U 386.1 beta 3 clean install:

After a restart (scheduled weekly) some devices are getting incorrect 192.168.50.49 DNS address via DHCP and lose network connectivity.

Basic setup, AIProtection, Diversion, DoT to 9.9.9.9 and DNS Privacy (Router).

Disable the scheduled reboot. :)

.....

Please would you post your script with some basic instructions as that would be fantastic for a noob like me.

PS: I have come over from FreshTomato on a RT-N18U to a RT-AX88U currently on stock. Once Merlin 386 is out of beta, I am going to flash.

I looks like since beta 1 to 3 the schedule doesn't work anymore. I've reset to factory default but it's still not working. I've notice they change the way it works. But what ever I put it's working 24/7 for my kids.

Hello everybody
With Beta 3 I confirm too overheating bug.

Ambient 20°c, CPU Temperature (almost idle) 88°C with ""pwr config --wait on", otherwise it would have been even higher.
While performing a blocking list update with Diversion script, CPU went over 100°C and system log reported many CPU switched off.

For reference in another AC86U I own, in very similar ambient conditions, running Merlin 384.19, CPU Temp is 68°C

20°C difference :-/

Sorry, I'm having problems to post, in the attachment all info you may need.

I'll try to provide all the steps the best i can, it was a collection from several posts i read over time... Please I ask the seniors here to comment and suggest better ways to implement it...

(i'm assuming you can ssh to your "merlin" device )

If you are running on a node like me, you need to make sure it will run scripts upon start-up so you need first to do this

Bash:
nvram set jffs2_exec=/jffs/scripts/services-start
nvram set jffs2_scripts=1
nvram commit

then create the file by doing
Bash:
vi /jffs/scripts/services-start

Bash:
#!/bin/sh
cru a temp "*/10 * * * * /jffs/scripts/<filename>.sh >/dev/null 2>&1"

don't forget to
Bash:
chmod +x /jffs/scripts/<filename>.sh

My script for RT-AC68u is this
Bash:
vi /jffs/scripts/<filename>.sh
Bash:
#!/bin/sh
Temp_CPU=$(cat /proc/dmu/temperature | grep -o '[0-9]\+' )
Temp_24g=$(wl -i eth1 phy_tempsense | tr -d -c 0-9 | awk '{print subst r($1,1,2)}')
Temp_5g=$(wl -i eth2 phy_tempsense | tr -d -c 0-9 | awk '{print subst r($1,1,2)}')
logger -t "custom_script" "Temperatures CPU $Temp_CPU - 5g $Temp_5g - 2.4g $Temp_24g"

My script for RT-AC86u is this { the way to get temperature is different) :

Bash:
#!/bin/sh

Temp_CPU=$(cat /proc/dmu/temperature | grep -o '[0-9]\+' )
Temp_24g=$(wl -i eth1 phy_tempsense | tr -d -c 0-9 | awk '{print subst r($1,1,2)}' )
Temp_5g=$(wl -i eth2 phy_tempsense | tr -d -c 0-9 | awk '{print subst r($1,1,2)}' )
logger -t "custom_script" "Temperatures CPU $Temp_CPU - 5g $Temp_5g - 2.4g $Temp_24g"

I also do another wgets to post the results for my home automation, but it's not the case here...

[EDIT] Sorry, but for some reason the command "s u b s t r" always presented one error here to post, so i put one space on the code above, please remove it when you implement in your router.

Merlin, some feedback for BETA4 on AX86U:

Thanks for the BETA4; I applied to my two new AX86U routers - connected by same cable TV ISP in a town 3.5 miles from each other, and the traffic analysis and QOS now looks correct. The H264 streaming between both was smooth, and the QOS dials were correct in the (expected) transfer rate and each device was shown populating the graphical bar. In the QOS classification, I could see the class categories varying in traffic flow too.

3.5 miles from each other? Via OpenVPN, or? :)

Hi @RMerlin

I have one Asus AX86U, and it doesn't work with WAN Aggregation 386.1 beta firmware. :( I tested the official latest stable firmware and good with it!
