Noticed what might be a minor gui bug, the service state of vpn (connected/ip/port) is reported on the vpn status tab, but not next to Service State on/off in the vpn client tab as it was in previous releases, doesn't affect function though (rt-ax3000) -

Everything works so far! My ac5300 is happy...I, however, am elated!-)

Did a dirty upgrade of my RT-AC88U from 386.4 to 386.5 just over 48 hours ago and so far so good. 386.4 was very stable over time, so I’m hoping 386.5 is as well.

This was also the case with the other user that appeared to be having issues, @Incubus32. He said he was doing factory resets after flashing each firmware but on further questioning it obviously wasn't actually happening. That effectively negated all of his testing. Maybe if the factory resets had worked things would have been resolved by now.

Hey man, I also wondered about this... Hitting factory defaults but still some of the previous settings was retained. Now I'm back to square one with my previous issue lol.

Made sure all TM stuff is turned off this time but still I am having internal packet loss when using the router in the equation.

Sorry kakaiba, but your suggestion is proven useless on previous 386.4 FW. Countless posts here points to faulty WiFi FW.
Is I stated earlier, 386.3.2 works excellent in my environment and no adjustments are needed.
Looks like 386.5 FW inherited that faulty WiFi FW from 386.4.

Again I kindly ask owners of AC86U to report the state of 2.4 GHz WiFi with 386.5 - working or faulty as in previous FW.

I'm sorry to hear that. In any case, just because a lot of people are experiencing it, doesn't mean it's the only cause of the effect. Just like my experience, I didn't have those issues or any issues for that matter on my end.

RT-AC86U owner here. No issues of any kind since 386.2_3.

Might indicate that the stun lookup is taking longer than expected to complete.

hi,
at the sistem protocol I´m getting hundred times following message:
"Mar 5 09:15:22 miniupnpd[1348]: private/reserved address xxx.xxx.x.xx is not suitable for external IP"
I would like to correct it
howto?
thks in advance...

Hi @RMerlin I have just updated 386.4 > 386.5 (dirty) and was hoping the the asuscomm DDNS would now be working on IPv6, however I can only find my address on IPv4. I know that you disabled this in the previous release inadyn: rc: disable IPv6 support · RMerl/asuswrt-merlin.ng@8c0194d · GitHub, but I thought that the issue had been fixed in their firmware 3.0.0.4.386.46065 and would now be working.

Before I annoy my family by reverting to standard Asus, checking if it works there, and reverting can you confirm if you think that it should be working in 386.5.

Apart from this, everything appears to be working fine.

Thanks, Archiel

So after the failing flash issues I had (post #106) going from 386.4 to 386.5 yesterday, I was well prepared to use the Asus restoration tool again but thank god it wasn't required.

Thought I would give a last ditch effort today (before a full clean wipe) at removing all AMTM scripts and then I remembered that the January update (386.3_2 to 386.4) I did had issues with the setting 'Manually Assigned IP around the DHCP list' being enabled, this caused it to fail then, maybe this could be it, so this got disabled as well.

Whatever it was it worked like a charm and 386.5 has now been successfully flashed to my ac68u.

RT-AC66U_B1 dirty upgrade from 386.4 to 386.5 and everything is rock solid here.

Checked mine - not seeing that here on my RT-AX86U. Does it show up eventually? Or after toggling off/on?

Anyone noticed a weird AI mesh behavior?

GS-AX3000 as a node downstairs and all IoT devices on the same floor are all connected to the Main Router/node on the 2nd floor.

It did show up eventually, not sure how long it took (didn't check again until this morning), but i'd waited about an hour before deciding to post about it, but yeah, it's there now.

RT-AC5300 here. I rebooted and went to flash the firmware, it just says Updating Firmware... with no % indicator.
It never moves.
I tried from multiple browsers after multiple router reboots.
Any ideas short of recovery mode and manually plugging into the router? That's generally a PITA for me to physically get to it...

Have you removed any USB attached devices first?

Getting a lot of these errors in the syslog following upgrading - any ideas?

Asuswrt-Merlin 386.5 is now available. This release introduces support for the RT-AC68U_V4 and GT-AXE11000 (both were originally planned for 386.4, but wifi issues with their GPLs forced both to be delayed to this release). This also merges with Asus's 386_46065 GPL code, and fixes a few issues.

The highlights of this release:

  • Merged with GPL 386_46065 (note that a number of its security fixes were already present in 386.4)
  • Added support for the RT-AC68U V4. Just like with the original Asus firmware, support is implemented in a combined firmware image that supports both the older and newer models. That image might not work properly however when using Firmware Recovery Mode, in which case people should use a version older than 386.5.
  • Added support for the GT-AXE11000 (without its ROG UI or VPN Fusion).
  • Fixes issues related to the Trend Micro BWDPI engine on the RT-AX68U and RT-AX86U.
  • Dnsmasq was reverted back to 2.85 in an attempt to improve its stability
  • Avahi was updated to 0.8, and a few additional fixes were backported.
  • Miniupnpd was upgraded to 2.3.0.
  • Fixed netatalk failing to load its modules, which was breaking Time Machine
  • A number of fixes and improvements were implemented in Traditional QoS
  • And a few other minor fixes and improvements, please view the changelog for more details

Please keep discussions in this thread on this specific release. General support requests should be posted in a separate thread.

This thread will be locked once the post-release feedback has quieted down.

I have recently picked up a GT-AXE11000, and must say I am bored of the traditional UI on the other routers (I came from an RT-AC88U) I am not a huge fan of the ROG UI either. That said, I do prefer the dashboard on ROG UI.
