Big WiFi issue with latest firmware

I have been fine with the the latest build on my BE98Pro. I also have the latest builds on my AX88U and AC86 AiMesh nodes.

Super fast downloads, 10gig working great. No connection issues.

As mentioned earlier, I reverted to firmware 102.4 two days ago and I haven’t had a single disconnection since. The power level doesn’t really matter — I’m on 'fair' and I have no disconnections throughout the house. A few months ago, I had already tested the power settings on balanced, good, or performance, and the only gain I noticed was a stronger signal outside the house. Inside, probably because of reflections on the walls, I didn’t see any improvement and even experienced some drops in quality in certain rooms...

Interesting I might have to do that or at least try it !

As a matter of interest - do you have "Airtime Fairness" enabled or disabled in 102.4?
Being disabled cured several connectivity issues I had previously experienced with various firmware's [including Asus stock] all the way back to my RT-AC5300 8 years ago.

Perhaps the key to success. Asuswrt can break with just playing with the settings indeed. I've seen it, up to complete lock and need to factory reset. Not limited to 3006 branch. Reducing the number of exposed setting by Asus is a step in right direction.
Speak for yourself. As soon as they dumb down settings I am off to another vendor. I don't want some dumbed down offering. Don't understand the settings, or want to read up on them first? Then get another router that is dumbed down would be my advice. There may be an argument to limit settings on the cheapo Asus routers but not the ones £150 and above....

I enabled all the features related to Wi-Fi 5 and 6: WMM APSD, IGMP Snooping, Target Wake Time, Airtime Fairness, TX Burst, MU-MIMO, and OFDMA for Wi-Fi ac. But I disabled the Wi-Fi 7 features, since I don’t have any Wi-Fi 7 devices yet...

Hello everyone

I'm new to this forum, but not new to this business. ;-)

Same model (RT-BE88U), same problems.
I've tested a few things and hope this helps.

The Wi-Fi interruptions and the restricted "Professional" settings only occur under 102.5.
Versions 102.4, 102.38152, and 102.38186 don't have these problems; I've all tested them with a factory reset.
The interruptions under 102.5 only start when changes are made to the "Professional" settings (any changes, it could also be the signal strength). I suspect a connection to the restricted "Professional" settings; it's likely that something is being saved that wasn't previously active.
Since the newer stock version 102.38186 doesn't have these limitations and problems, I suspect this is more of a bug than a deliberate restriction of the settings by Asus. I could imagine that the model isn't being recognized correctly, and that's why only default settings are displayed.

I was even able to narrow down the setting in the restricted "Professional" settings under 102.5, which appears to be related to the interruptions. After disabling "802.11b mode," the interruptions stopped.
Since I need a current, stable firmware with all the settings and also want to test the stock firmware, I've switched to 102.38186 for the time being. It's been running smoothly for days, even with customizations.

Regardless of that, I find it a real shame that a device in this price range lacks certain standard features that are actually available on every older or cheaper router, such as "Wireless Mode," which only displays "Auto," or "Port Forwarding," which can only be enabled globally and not individually. This currently seems to be missing in all versions of this model.
The many annoying and often unnecessary automatic restarts during configuration also surprised me a bit.
Sorry, just wanted to get that off my chest. ;-)

You perhaps had to start looking for another vendor long time ago. Asuswrt has very limited dependencies and users can do really dumb contradicting settings and they all will be accepted. And if you think what's available in the GUI is actually always doing something - think again. Asus was one of the vendors offering devices in the past with MU-MIMO in advertisements and settings and no MU-MIMO support on SoC level. Broadcom's issue, but the users were not aware. Anyone knows the story of first RT-AC88U model?
