confused on Port FWD .. what da ..?

So.. I had a Amped Wireless Router and just upgradede to a RT68U .. beauty
I know port forward works as of this morning with Amped.. I also have a static IP so Im good there..

I cant seem to figure out what Im doing wrong

I enter the :

Device Name Port Range IP Address Local Port
xxx 443 192.168.3.233 tried 443 or 80 or blank

I also tried both and individual protocols ... nothing .. I enabled the firewall ?

is there a trick Im missin ?.. I searched the web but not much detail?

Can you write in words what you try to establish, what data or protocol do you want to forward to where?

• Enable Port Forwarding: Yes
• Service Name: just a name, can be anything for your own reference.
• Port Range: either a single port, e.g. 3000, or a range, e.g. 3000:3010
• Local IP: where to forward data to on your LAN.
• Local Port: empty to use the Port Range numbers specified before, or any other.
• Protocol: TCP or UDP or both.

After filling in the numbers, hit the + sign to bring the data one line down, then Apply.

Hi Woutery..
I have a smart home which I have client apps on iPhones and iPads..pointing to a static IP
I also have Camera's with Apps as well..
I tried with firewall enabled and disabled ...

this is exactly what I did on my old router.. but for some reason... I can get to it..

I did not change anything on the clients as the STATIC IP stays the same..seems like the PF is not enabled ..but clearly it is as the pic attached shows ..

Im running Firmware Version:3.0.0.4.374_5656
BTW.. I also set static DHCP for these 3 devices as well ... can that be causing an issue ?

Do you want to access services running in your home LAN from the outside Internet? How, what??

I need access to a smart home inside property
I also have IP cameras

Those items along with couple other things have a static reserved IP
Am I not configuring tthis router properly to gain access to these items in my home ?

You have 3 port forwards configured, lets say x, y and z; these do the following:

• TCP or UDP data coming in on port 443 is forwarded to port 80 of client 192.168.3.x on your LAN, an application on your LAN device 192.168.3.x must have an application running to do something with data on port 80.
• TCP or UDP data coming in on port 88 is forwarded to port 88 of client 192.168.3.y on your LAN, an application on your LAN device 192.168.3.y must have an application running to do something with data on port 88.
• TCP or UDP data coming in on port 81 is forwarded to port 81 of client 192.168.3.z on your LAN, an application on your LAN device 192.168.3.z must have an application running to do something with data on port 81.

Hi.. yes.. that is correct .. its how it was configured on my previous Router.. and I just switched it earlier.. and port fwd works.. when back to ASUS.. no go

I just noticed others had same issue.. they disabled NAT Accelorator ..I tried this potential fix.. but no go for me

if you aren't redirecting the forwarded port to a different local port, the local port can be left blank.

how are you accessing these ports?

for example, your 443 > 80 port forward, are you accessing via http://yourip:443 ? could the browser be converting the URL/IP from http to https due to your requesting port 443?

Let me rephrase: you do have an app on a Client device on your own LAN, the local address of this Client device is 192.168.3.100
This Client device seems to be configured as Web host, with HTTP access on port 80 and HTTPS access on port 443 (both the standard ports for such access).
You want to access that Web application on your local device 192.168.3.100 from the outside Internet.
For that you need to know the external IP or WAN address of your router, this is the IP address assigned by your ISP (either dynamic or static), lets call this "yourrouterip".

In your port forward setup you direct HTTPS port 443 access to the standard HTTP port 80.
If you externally browse for https://yourrouterip, it will be redirected to the HTTP port of your Web application and miss the encryption that is required.

I guess you first port forward shall be like this:
Service Name: ISY
Port Range: 443
Local IP: 192.168.3.100
Local Port: [empty]
Protocol: Both.

To access your Web application from the Internet use the following URL: https://yourrouterip:443
Maybe the :443 part may be omittted.

attached is the client (iPhone App ) that I used in the past ..\
this always worked with 2 other routers..
I have a STATIC IP 68.xxx.xxxx that I pay monthly from ISP
to access the device from another planet .that I may configure..etc.... I do that exactly : https://68.xxx.xx.xx/WEB/INDEX.HTM

if I just want to reach the device that sits in that house from another planet....I use the iphone app (pic attached)

maybe this will help...(maybe Im more of a visual guy

Leave the /WEB/INDEX.HTM part away!

I'm running about 8 ip cameras on my n66u and i've set up loads of the same set up for other people, ie n66u and ip cameras.

As per PK .. I also tried with alternating ports .. no go..

odd as once I put in my old Router... bingo.. works ..

is there a quick way to test a portforward but have no device at the other location .. kinda to see if the port fwd works ?..

Id love to install Merlin .. but want to fix all bugs at OEM level first

Is both your old new and your new router using the same address range?

So the router has an IP address in the 192.168.3.* range? (Otherwise it will not know where to route traffic for 192.168.3.100.)

Yes.. My router is set to 192.168.3.1

Wondering if I should reset all to more tradition 192.168.1.1.. I'm willing to try that to.. It would silly if that is the bug

I do use another LAN subnet than the default one and I have no problems.
Can you attach a print screen of the port forward page?

Make a simple setup:
Take a Windows PC, enable Remote Desktop, allow any connection, record the LAN IP address.
In your router forward port 3389 to the LAN IP address of the computer with Remote Desktop enabled.
Use http://www.canyouseeme.org/, make sure it recognises your external (fixed) router IP address, specify port 3389 to test.
I just did a succesful quicktest here, and my LAN IP range is not default (after your test: disable Remote Desktop and remove the port forward):
