I've been trying to get Dual WAN up in failover mode on my RT-68U for some time now (now running 380.57).
Periodically I am getting DNS failures. I have a DSL connection as my primary and Comcast as my standby.
Even though Comcast is standby, it seems the router will sends some DNS queries to the comcast servers:
Dec 28 09:36:43 dnsmasq[456]: using nameserver 192.168.1.254#53
Dec 28 09:36:43 dnsmasq[456]: using nameserver 75.75.75.75#53 ***COMCAST***
Dec 28 09:36:43 dnsmasq[456]: using nameserver 75.75.76.76#53 ***COMCAST***
The issue comes in because it doesn't look like comcast allows queries from ourside their network:
C:\WINDOWS\system32>nslookup google.com 75.75.76.76
Server: UnKnown
Address: 75.75.76.76
*** UnKnown can't find google.com: Query refused
Seems to me that the DNS of the standby WAN should only be used during a failover....am I wrong?
