So. In Merlin I have "DNS over TLS" set to "Strict," with certain servers selected below that.

When I go to https://www.dnsleaktest.com/ it identifies some servers which are *not* the ones I have selected in Merlin.

So.

I don't know whether to be pleased that the website is wrong, or concerned that it's not showing me the ones I've selected.

???

Many DNS providers use multicast, so the servers it directs your queries to may not be the ones you choose. No way millions of users can use the same Google, Cloudflare, Quad Nine, etc. servers. Multicast spreads the load.

What browser do you use? If it's Firefox be prepared to have a different outcome than others that don't have DoH active.

Tried it in FF and Chrome, again just now. Very similar results, as you would expect from the browsers going to the router for DNS? Anyway, at least one was a CleanBrowsing DNS, so I guess it's okay.

I'm using Quad Nine 9.9.9.9 & 149.112.112.112 (DNS over TLS in WAN tab).
ipleak.net seems down, so using dnsleaktest.com I get this result
Code:
IP Hostname ISP Country
66.185.114.242 res100.bur.rrdns.pch.net. WoodyNet Los Angeles, United States
66.185.114.244 res300.bur.rrdns.pch.net. WoodyNet Los Angeles, United States

Try this test at https://2ip.io/privacy/
I see this info a ways down the page.
Code:
DNS leak no information about the DNS used

Yep. Same results, basically. Cool.

https://browserleaks.com/ip works fine with firefox, tells you what you need to know. Add http://0skar.cz/dns/en/ to the equation and I think you know what you need to know without any further hassle.
