Hey @Tweakfiend,
Once you have flashed the firmware you should see a wizard hat in the header of any page.
Merlin features are listed here https://www.asuswrt-merlin.net/features
Enjoy

Thanks for your update and have reinstalled your firmware..

No problems apart from Intel driver for Windows 11 v 22.110.1.1 which in your firmware and Asus firmware, prevents a wireless connection when the wireless mac filter for 5 Ghz is ring fenced ( switched on ) .

Connections work normally if only 2.4 ghz is ring fenced.

Intel acknowledges the driver problem but wrongly claims to have resolved it !

Any new updates to this @GNUton ? I am on the 386.5_2 version and have noticed that the 386.6 version of Merlin has been out for quite some time now. Is this project something you are still continuing with or would you recommend going back to stock firmware? It has been great so far and thank you so much for all your hard work :)

I am on the 386.5_2 version and have noticed that the 386.6 version of Merlin has been out for quite some time now.
386.6 was only available for the XT12 and GT-AX6000. There was no GPL available for the other models.

Flashed TUF-AX5400_386.07_0-gnuton0_alpha0_cferom_puresqubi.w.
Router is working fine but i noticed log is flooded with these entries repeating.

Jun 11 10:37:35 rc_service: watchdog 1914:notify_rc stop_aae
Jun 11 10:37:35 rc_service: watchdog 1914:notify_rc start_mastiff
Jun 11 10:37:35 rc_service: waitting "stop_aae" via watchdog ...

Any idea why ?

Just curious if anyone has tested this on the XT8 yet, and if so, how it went?

I'd like to move away from 42095 from asus lol. I'm ok with doing some testing but I do need decent stability, two users here working from home now.

Edit: for the XT8, do we use the firmware labeled RT-AX95Q? I don't see the XT8 called out specifically but do see this message
  • NEW: Added support for ZenWifi AX (X8)/RT-AX95Q

I have X8 (RT-AX95Q). Should I use the asuswrt-merlin firmware on my AiMesh node as well? Advantages? Disadvantages?

Thanks!

Yes there has been some beta releases, but think its put on hold due to a offical firmware release, so he will be working on that.
Yet @GNUton has not said anything, his on the missing list.

They should all use the same Firmware version. If 1 is newer then go back so all the same version.
Merlins Firmware has a nicer setup than official, better VPN, DNS Filtering + other bits.
But missing the new security fixs from the official at the moment.

Maybe he's working on the new update

386.7_2 (24-July-2022)
- UPDATED: openssl to 1.1.1q.
- UPDATED: RT-AX86U driver + SDK updated to latest upstream version
- UPDATED: RT-AX88U and GT-AX11000 radio firmware downgraded to the
previous version.
- FIXED: Some ISPs would fail to allocate a proper IPv6 prefix (tvlz)
- FIXED: Packet checksum errors logged when using DNSFilter in Router
mode. Router mode will no longer use DNAT, except for newer
HND 5.04 models like the GT-AX6000 or XT12, which work
properly. Non-Router mode on HND will still use
the new DNAT support added in 386.7.
- FIXED: Some SSH clients would end up with an incorrect PATH
value for the default search path.
- FIXED: OpenVPN clients wouldn't get updated routing tables
if an OpenVPN server was stopped/started while an
OpenVPN client was connecte
