hi everyone here
i have read all your fourms about how to unbricked asus touters,i even read all the main sites about it too.
but nothing works and nothing helps.

my asus rt-88u was nice working and amazing , i was installing merlin and ddwrt untill something happend when i was reseting it and my son did something next to me,i did not where did i click or where my son click the mouse next to me.
i had a web page that tell me :

asustek - cfe mini webserver.

and there were 2 links reset and erase nvrm ( something like that, that what i can remember untill now )
i clicked on of these 2 links.

and thats it,my router goes in a coma.

when i start it,i got only the power light, after one power led flash so fast.

and not 30,30,30 sec reset with the wps or with reset button work, nor Firmware Restoration tools could catch the router .

i love this router so much,i paid so much for it.

what i did wrong ?.
any way to fix it ?

i am not a guru like some members here.

i was installing merlin and ddwrt
Please be clear. What were you trying to install Merlin or DD-WRT they are different things? Did you actually upload a file to the router?

1. Assign a static IP address to your PC, like 192.168.1.10.
2. Turn off the router.
3. Press the reset button, and while keeping it pressed turn it back on. Wait a few seconds until the power led blinks, and then release the reset button.
4. Go to http://192.168.1.1 and you should see this:
cfe_miniweb.jpg

5. Upload Merlin's firmware. Don't load DD-WRT.

thank u for the replay.
i did that 100 of times,as i write in my post.
what ever i do,the power led will not blink once .
i was one merlin, then i upload ddwrt ,and then something happend which gave me that asustek - cfe miniweb server.
and then he goes in a coma ( power led still lighting ).

is there any thing elase in u canadvice me ?

thank u again.

After you have set a static IP address of 192.168.1.10 on your PC open up a command prompt and issue the following command (assuming you're using Windows):

ping -t 192.168.1.1

This should start a continuous ping.

Unplug everything from the router. Turn the router off.

Make sure your Ethernet cable is plugged into port #1 on the router.

Hold the reset button down and then power on the router whilst keeping the button pressed.

After a short time do you get a ping response on your PC with a TTL of 100? If so release the reset button immediately and the router should boot into recovery mode.

If you do not get a response to the ping then repeat the procedure from the beginning but with the Ethernet cable plugged into port 5 or 8 instead,

ColinTaylor how could the ping force my router to be in into recovery mode ???

is there any other tools to wake him up from this coma ?
is he 100 % bricked ?

ColinTaylor how could the ping force my router to be in into recovery mode ???
It doesn't. Holding down the button whilst powering on does that. But recovery mode is only available for a short period of time during which you have to release the button. If you wait too long the router tries to boot up normally. That is why you set the continuous ping. When you see the TTL=100 you know it's time to release the button.

The only other thing I can suggest is that you try turning the router off, pressing the WPS button and then turn on the router. Wait about 10 seconds, then release the WPS button. That should clear the NVRAM. Then go back and attempt the recovery procedure as before using the reset button.

If that doesn't work I'm out of ideas.

ColinTaylor i was sure it wont work.
i was right, nothing change, the power led still stand without blinking .
i read every where no one have the same issue with any ASUS RT serie.
even DDRT forums have no ideas.

is this end ???

any GURU can help me with power LED ON only.
and can not go with reset or recovery mode or....

any ideas ?

At least here you ping an incorrect IP address:

You shall ping 192.168.1.1 (not 192.168.1.10).
Try again please!

ok
i made that 30 times maybe.
first i have to set static ip adress to my pc

192.168.1.10
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1

i start cmd,and then ping -t 192.168.1.1
i am sure all is right here

now first ping after i hit enter i got : Replay from 192.168.1.10 Destenation host Unreacheable

why thats happend ?

I think basically all is said, a wrap up:

If the router fails to start properly (this method uses a router bootloader function and shall work as long as there is no hardware fault):
  1. Turn off the router.
  2. Press and hold the WPS button.
  3. Turn on the router.
  4. Wait about 10 seconds.
  5. Release the WPS button.
  6. Access the router at the default IP address 192.168.1.1 and admin/admin
  7. You shall get the router configuration wizard.
  8. Manual configure the router again (do NOT load an old configuration backup file).

Recovery mode:

  1. Have a firmware file available, ending with the extension .trx
  2. Power down the router.
  3. Remove USB memory devices (if any).
  4. Press and hold the reset button, at the same time power up the router.
  5. Wait for slow flashing Power LED.
  6. Release the reset button.
  7. Set your computer to a fixed IP address, such as 192.168.1.100 / 255.255.255.0.
  8. Hardwire your computer to a LAN port of the router.
  9. Start the Firmware Restoration utility.
  10. Follow the instructions to locate the firmware file and start the installation.
  11. Wait for the Firmware Restoration utility to finish.
  12. Access the router at the default IP address 192.168.1.1 and admin/admin
  13. Manual configure the router again (do NOT load an old configuration backup file).
  14. Optional: delete the wireless connection profiles on your computers and connect again.
Note:
After step 8 you can also start a web browser and open http://192.168.1.1
This shall open the ASUSTeK - CFE miniWeb Server, from there you can Upload a Firmware File, Reboot or Restore default NVRAM values.

use acrylic wifi or some wifi scanner app, maybe its on ch. 13 and your region is US ch. 1-11.

What "yes it is"?
Yes it is on ch. 13 or it is set to US?
As I wrote use a Wifi scanner app and look on which channel you can see your SSID.
