I have a buddy looking to get a NAS. He actually came upon a guy selling a HTPC for $250. He's wanting to know if it would work for a NAS, or if it's too little or too much. He's buying new drives,so the one included isn't a big deal.

Windows 7 64 Ultimate
Silverstone ML03B HTPC Case
GIGABYTE GA-MA785GM-US2H 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
AMD Athlon II X2 245 Regor 2.9GHz Socket AM3 65W Dual-Core ADX245OCGQBOX
Western Digital WD Blue WD5000AAKS 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache SATA
4GB DDR2 Memory

Is it worth it? Im not sure if he could build one cheaper,or around the same price point.
Let me know what you think and if you have a build that you have done that may be better, let me know. I don't think he has $500-$600 to drop on a Synology,Qnap, etc, unless he finds a very good deal on one.
