need some advice on ad blocker script

Running merlin 384.17 RT AC68U.

I'd like to have the ad blocker installed on router. From the search I found below thread:

However the thread is HUGE! Is there any one page guide for beginners like me that never run installed scripts on the router? Especially if something goes wrong, is it easy to restore back to the state before install the script?

Is it worthy learn it so maybe it is easier to install diversion or other scripts down the road?

Finally, how much of performance/load impact for these scripts on the router?

That amtm Step-by-Step guide is still relevant today. Just note you will not need to install amtm at all with the firmware level you are using. (Not needed since RMerlin 384.15_0 release final).

The impact on the router is minimal, even when the USB mode is set to USB 2.0.

The other steps are still the same.

Diversion and amtm are made to be simple to use and run on tens of thousands of routers. Typically one encounters no errors and both have an uninstall function if things go belly up. Which they don't.
