Edimax’s RE11 Gemini AC1200 Dual-Band Home Wi-Fi Roaming Kit is the latest Wi-Fi product to claim to enable "seamless" roaming in home Wi-Fi networks. The kit includes two dual-band AC1200 class extenders that provide maximum wireless link rates of up to 867 Mbps at 5 GHz, and 300 Mbps at 2.4 GHz.

Edimax says the extenders can be used with any Wi-Fi router and will automatically build an "intelligent Wi-Fi roaming mesh network with a single SSID". The company claims the feature, called Seamless Wi-Fi, enables the extenders to "automatically detect and switch your device to the best available Wi-Fi signal for a more natural, seamless experience".

Aside from Seamless Wi-Fi, other features include Wi-Fi extender, access point, and bridge modes, detachable antennas, green/Wi-Fi power switch that controls transmit power level, and signal strength indicator to help optimize physical placement during installation.

The Edimax RE11 Gemini AC1200 range extender kit is available now with an MSRP of $129.

so to be clear its band steering and ap steering which imho should not be associated with "seamless roaming" as true seamless roaming means the client devices never disassociate and re associate between ap's , where as so called smart wifi still does disconnected and reconnect

other than that they look interesting
