QoS supporting router, or just a new profile?

New Around Here
Hi,

When my wife streams movies my gaming experience goes to crap. I have searched through forums and I thought I was going to go out and buy a new Router (ac66u or ac68u) but now I am thinking: Maybe I just need a new ISP bandwidth profile...

Current: 30d/5u cable
Considering: 60d/10u cable

I am using a Apple Airport Extreme, and was considering buying an ASUS for QoS.

Thoughts?

30/5 is enough for streaming and gaming at the same time. Make sure nothing else is eating too much bandwidth, such as torrent clients.

QoS might be able to help you with that by giving more priority to gaming (which is more latency-sensitive).

Thank you for the information.

I think I will pick up an Asus router and try the QoS settings on the stock firmware. If it works out I will keep it and likely flash it with Merlin FW.
