Repeater Mode Broken RT-AC66u on latest Merlin Firmware

Hi,

I noticed that when I updated my AC66u and put it on Repeater mode, it reboots every 2-3 mins, this also happens on the latest Beta of ASUS as well.

I have now flashed 378.56_2 merlin and no longer reboots.

This a known issue? I did try and google about it and didn't get much info, only that 378.56_2 was recommended for Repeater mode on RT-AC66u.

Indeed, yes it's a known issue and the same happening with RT-AC68U repeater mode.

Send an email to networking_support@asus.com reporting the issue, it seems the are not aware.

Please refeer also the same issue happening with RT-AC68U on your report. :)

I have write @vanic (Asus) a PM with this Problem.

He said I should try with the latest beta 380-2695.
I say that there is the same problem.

And have since 2 weeks now Answer.
Also now Anser from the local Support in Austria.

@hggomes
Would it be possible in repeater code to copy from a working firmware in a existing one?

Yes the problem is there long time ago now, It's not a driver issue if that's your question, so no you can't use previous versions to fix it.

Tried contacting asus but they replied back to reset factory etc and it's my issue not theirs.

Tell them you already did that and the same issue still happening and that also a legion of users have the same issue, simply tell them to test it.

I have today tested your latest firmware (380.59) on my AC87. And my AC68 in Repeatermode is going in reboot loop. I have tested your 380.58 the same issue.
After that i install the 380.57 and the reboot loop is gone. I think the problem is between 380.57 and 380.58. Mabye the AC87 (Qauntenna) is the problem.

@hggomes In the latest AC68 firmware is the reboot issue solved. Can you import the new gpl in your firmware?

Or isit not possible with the new asus verification mode.
