I downloaded the log file and was wondering what I would be looking out for to investigate the dropouts? I wanted to contact ASUS and wanted to have my ducks in a line..
Anyone know what I would be looking for in the log file?
Check first if the dropouts are due to the system crashing and rebooting. In the logs, immediately following a dropout, you would see normal iptables behavior, and then suddenly the date resets to the factory default date and boot sequence begins (30-60 seconds later, the date will be correct, after connectivity is up and ntpupdate runs). If it's that, then Asus support will likely tell you to disable all the WiFi 6 capabilities for stability, as per Mikeybigs's post:

https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1042475/

I want both uPnP and NAT-PMP disabled completely.
I know there are good reasons for both of these, and in fact my son plays Fortnite and I have a feeling it will require this ability. I have a PS4 and a Switch, but I only have static rules setup for the PS4. The Switch has none, and I don't even think I gave it a DHCP reservation (but I will).

My main objection to both of these is that I want to know every device that is being accessed from outside. I don't like the idea of some unknown guest device being reachable publicly; my trust level of devices varies by manufacturer and ... ahem ... owner.

I'll know eventually. I modified my script to log the objects in the VUPNP chain prior to flushing it. So if any device has issues, I'll know about it, know which ports it needs, and can set it all up statically.

Anyway, given that Deluge was actually using TCP-PMP for this (as opposed to uPnP, but the Chain's name was confusing), maybe the settings do actually take effect. But, I cannot find a way to also disable TCP-PMP. I'll also say that this issue may well have been occurring on my RT-AC68R for years and I just never noticed. It's funny how you notice everything wrong when you're focused on a recurring issue. If only this thing hadn't been randomly rebooting, I probably never would have noticed the uPnP thing.

Hey there. Just got my first AX11000 connected to my FritzBox Cable 6590 to the WAN PORT to the ASUS router.
Working so far.
I found out that the 5GHZ-1 network doesn’t have the same range like the 5GHZ-2, is that correct?
I’m using fixed channels on 5GHZ-1 (Channel 44) and Channel 100 for the 5GHZ-2.
Getting on both 500MBit/s like my ISP provides on my iPhone, MAC and Windows PC. Working very good with the newest firmware.

I have one working room where the ASUS AX is currently and wanna get a 2nd one for my living room and using AI Mesh.
Is that the best way to cover all WiFI, because I have read somewhere when using 2 AX11000 the 2nd 5GHZ-2 will be used as backup?

which mode would you recommend to use them?

the first one I have is running in router mode - the second one as for backup I still wanna get connect with LAN cable in order to receive there also perfect network speeds.

Mia it possible anyway to use the 5GHZ-2 when using AI Mesh mode because I have much more range for all my devices and constantly more speed there.

any idea ?

Yes it's just hidden by default, when you enable aimesh, just go back into 5ghz-2 and unhide the ssid again.

The only caveat to this is if you use smart connect, aimesh won't allow it to be used for smart connect so it will appear as a separate ssid.

okay. Smart connect I don’t wanna use. Just one AX 11000 as router and the 2nd meshed in other room with backup LAN :)

Anyone have more info the HW version 1.1 , is the newer v1.1 more stable?

Anyone have any comparisons ?

I was able to get one from Amazon for $400 and it is HW Version 1.1. Anyone if this is better than the previous version? I had the previous version and it was not good.

Please let us know how this one performs

So far not good, similar to the first version. Was shipped with firmware version 3.0.0.4.384.80XX (forgot the exact version) which is not available on Asus website. Upgraded to the latest firmware and the range is still not good. 2.4Ghz was very slow after an hour and OnePlus7T was not now able to access internet but was connected to the router. So reset the router again and reconfigured from scratch. Still not happy with the range though, 2.4Ghz seems to be same range as RT-68U. Will try for few days and will send it back if 2.4Ghz slows down to a crawl again.

Did anybody manage to get bonding/ link aggregation to work with Ax-11000? I have setup everything on both router's and NAS's side but still entire traffic flows from 1 adapter. I am using Qnap NAS.

I’ve had this one sitting in a box for about 8 months. Thought about putting it back up this weekend. Has it improved at all?

So I'm having 2 small issues with my AX11000, I don't know if its the router or the devices but it seems to have started somewhere around upgrading to firmware 3.0.0.4.384_9165

1. Can't print to my HP Printer. Multiple devices show it offline. Now the odd thing is the Router clearly shows the Printer has an IP address and connected, but I can't even ping or get to the address in a browser. I even tried setting up a static address for it. The only way I've found to fix this (which is a pain) is remove the printer from the WIFI and re-add it (on the printer itself). Then it works for a bit, but next time it goes to sleep mode, I have to do the same thing again.

2. Can't use Google Home to connect to some of my Google Home Devices. I have 7 Google Home Devices and when I open the App and try to access one it will say can't see the device. Now the odd thing is the devices work (I can talk to them and they are connected to the Internet), I just can't reach them internally. Which is almost basically the same thing that is happening with the printer.

Any suggestions?

For me (HP OfficeJet 8600 Pro), this drove me nuts. I found that I had to turn Roaming Assistant OFF.
Why?
When the HP printers (some/most of them?) power down (after 5, 10, 15 minutes), they are basically recognized as having a weak signal - and this forces "going offline" by the ASUS router (and they won't come back until you power cycle or remove > re-add, as you've done). Similar but different and could help use case below - Airtime Fairness has to be shut off to support SONOS speakers, especially my SONOS Sub.

Google Home and Google Nest are a piece of sh_t. I've ripped all of mine out (after 8+ years) in a fit of rage after dealing with their useless asinine FAQ-spewing support_morons in the Philippines.
Until they fire Rishi Chandra and Yoky Matsuoka- LinkedIn here and here, I'm done.
(former Nest execs privately agree with me).

Can this router block websites per device? I feel like I'm missing something. I see options for generic stuff like "porn, games, torrents" and so on. My 80$ tp link can do this.

Hi all,

I have an AX11000 and trying to setup my OpenVPN server. My router has a current firmware load. My client is an iPhone 6s with the latest IOS and latest OpenVPN app. Everything connects fine, but as others have seen is my IP is still using my iPhone's WiFi connection. My router's 'Direct clients to redirect Internet traffic' to Yes. I have tried to set the setting to No and back to Yes. I've also download a new config profile file to my iPhone. My iPhone client is set to use the VPN on 'all' networks.

The same thing happens on my Mac, but the client gives a little more info. I'm attaching screenshots below.

I'm not concerned about LAN access. I'm just running this to mask my data when using shared WiFi. I've tried to setup my routers IPSec server and that works 'correctly' and masks my IP. My issue with the iPhone's native VPN is it doesn't stay up. If I move from WiFi to cellular, the connection drops. I really like the OpenVPN feature of moving between networks.

I've tried Googling and I'm only coming up with 'Direct clients to redirect Internet traffic'.

Am I missing something?

Looks like you are connnecting from within the network. Have you tried it over celluar or from a different network? Your settings look correct. The warnings you have look like you are trying to vpn into a network you are already on.

I tried from my cell phone while on the cell network and the same thing happened. My IP never changed.

I also tried hard coding 8.8.8.8 in my WiFi's DNS page. That didn't change anything either.

......

I am experiencing the exact same issue also AX11000 from december 2019. Random reboots after crash. But only the internet connection seems to break down.

In the beginning I was sure this had to do with my ISP, but it is very clear that this is either a security issue, the broadcom chipset that is deffective or some sort of buffer overrun - that creates a crash log.

I have tried factory resetting the router entirely many times, tried setting up Daily scheduled boost, but the random onprovoked reboots remain. Some times I am lucky and the router runs uninterrupted for 2 days, but then starts all over. Some days it reboots many times within a few hours. There is really no pattern to be found - and since I am unable to read the input of the diagnostics log..... (only able to read the normal log, but since buffer is not sufficient the syslog is deleted approx every hour and a half).

Latest I have had ASUS look into the issue for more than a month and a half now, and they are receiving daily diagnostics from my router - even had to installation a not certified beta firmware....

Issue remains, but ASUS does not really respond to my questions and further they refuse to answer my when I ask about the beta firmware - does it include a official ASUS back door.

If any of you or if the ASUS staff on this blog have a solution, please do let me know...

Currently on beta firmware: 9.0.0.4.384_9314-g9b63ca7
But still haven’t heard from ASUS on the result or analysing diagnostics logs from the router.

Have tried the IOT changed referred to in the article: https://www.asus.com/us/support/FAQ/1042475/

But so far I have to wait to se the result.

Exact same behaviour as before. The only real change: router has been up and running for 3 full days before it rebooted this time.

Any suggestions?

I'm having random disconnections as well guys, i did notice that it happens a lot when i download big files at top speeds. I don't get it very often while simply surfing, so that has got to be a clue as to what is exactly happening. Should i throttle speed down? Any ideas where to go from here?

Anyone have recommended settings for 2.4GHz settings for better performance? 2.4GHz is fluctuating a lot at different times of the day. Have used static channel and the issue is not solved.
