Router Recommendation

I'm looking to upgrade my home Router and change to a WiFi AP. Currently running a Netgear Nighthawk X4S R7800 with Kong DD-WRT. We have AT&T Gigabit Fiber.

I have used DD-WRT for years, and really like all the options it has. But I've read and found that DD-WRT doesn't have great throughput on Gigabit Internet.

The r7800 WiFi doesn't reach as far as I would like in our 2600 square foot home.

I was thinking of replacing it with a Ubiquiti Networks UAP-AC-PRO-E and a Router with PoE.

Should I just go with an EdgeRouter PoE? Something else?

What is your throughput with Kong DD-WRT? I wish I could get gig internet.

If you want the high speed 5GHz around your house you need to go to multiple APs.

What is your throughput with Kong DD-WRT?

Around 600 Mbps down, 500 up on a wired connection through the r7800 with the Modem in IP Passthrough.

If I hook a Laptop up directly to the Modem, it's in the 900 range.

Why replace the R7800? Why not just use it as an AP.

Ubiquiti ER-4 and PoE switch or injector. Gives you bidirectional Gigabit Ethernet + flexibility in software.
