Routing between 2g and 5g subnets

New Around Here
Hi

I have several wifi devices that only work together if they connect to the same wifi bandwidth. I assume traffic is not routed between them?

Is there a setting on the 87u to enable this? I looked but couldn't see anything obvious

TIA

Incorrect. All devices should be able to talk to each of irrespective of how they are connected, unless you have set AP Isolated to Yes or are using guest networks (with intranet disabled).

hi

I take what your saying as true but that is not what I am seeing. I have a guest network and access Intranet = true and on both 2.4 and 5 I have Set AP Isolated as No on the professional tab.

But today I added a mini PC dongle to 5.0 and my tablet was on 2.4 and Intel Remote keyboard on the tablet did not see the PC. I refreshed and nothing. I switch the tablet to 2.4 as well and it appears instantly. Now it has found it, it works on both! I recall similar problems with my Amazon Echo and Logitech Harmony. Maybe its something to do with discovering other items, broadcasts or something.

A mystery, I am stumped. I am running Merlin 380.67

Sorry I don't know anything about these devices or what you are describing. :(

If I understand you correctly it is only effecting certain devices or certain functions? Perhaps you can try and narrow down just the things that are effected.

The RT-AC87U has the troublesome Quantenna radio, so maybe it's something to do with that.

It might be a broadcast issue. Try changing the options to do with IGMP multicast routing, forwarding and snooping at LAN > IPTV.
