RT-AC68U merlin firmware issue

Cpt. LoMax

New Around Here
Hello!

I have not updated the firmware for a long time so now was the time to do it... I downloaded the latest merlin version for RT-AC68U. After update it still is version 3.0.0.4.376.49_5 it should be ...384.7_2 or am I wrong?

I also did a facrory reset but still it was 3.0.0.4.376.49_5, strange or what?

Many things changed in the firmware format since your version was released. Perhaps you should consider an interim upgrade to 380.70 and see how that goes after resetting to defaults again. Then try the 384.7_2 upgrade from there.

Caveat: assumes this is a real AC68U and not a modified TM-AC1900.

Nope its not strange , your present firmware comes from the stone age :)
You need to flash with an intermediate firmware if you coming from 376.XX , and if its not a TM-mobile Ac1900 converted.
Flash with 378.55 first to upgrade the partition ( * The RT-AC68U firmware partition was increased to 64 MB in 378.50),do minimum config, and after you can flash with 384.7_2.You must do a "Initialize" after and reconfig from beginning, dont import old saved settings.

You dont need to do all these steps if you are on 380.59 with your ac68, only if you are below 378.50
Just a normal flash followed by an Initialize( in the UI ) ,should be fine for you

Sanna, looked at your sig.

Are you are running your AC1900p as a Media Bridge connected to your 86u?

What 5GHz wireless rate are you seeing between the two (and what is the distance)?

.

5G
20/40/80
Channel 157 (auto)

40 feets distance, straight line , no walls (if I dont close the door between the 2 rooms :p )
I'm using it as MediaBridge, and I've plugged in it one Ps4 ,2x smart tv, and 2T hdd for medias(usb3)

curious, what does it go down to when you close that door? I assume this is a interior non-solid core door.

Also (with door open LOL), if you specific / manual select a 5GHz channel vs using Auto on both units, does it reduce the speeds?
