[RT-AX58U/RT-AX3000][386.7, 386.5_2] Can't connect to 2.4 GHz, "Incorrect password", devices show up for a moment in wireless log

Heya, just checking if anyone else ran into this, my devices (iPhones, MacBooks, Chromecasts) can't connect to 2.4 GHz (RT-AX58U/RT-AX3000) after updating to 386.7 alpha (could be unrelated), getting "Incorrect password", devices show up for a moment in wireless log.

Tried reverting to 386.5_2, full factory and NVRAM reset. N only, 20 MHz, PMF off, AF off, BF off.

Symptoms looks like failed 2.4 GHz in RT-AC86U, production year 2019, HW 1.0.

I have one in Aimesh nod and working fine. Try to "forget wifi in phone" and retype login credential again.

Thanks! Already tried it on a few devices. After factory reset (default open WiFi) I can only connect to 5 GHz, checked 2.4 GHz channels for interference. Looks like faulty 2.4 GHz radio, firmware update timing could be just a coincidence.

Looking back over your posting history ... it seems you are no stranger to connectivity issues ???

May be an idea to go back to basics - and use Asus Rescue Utility specific to your router model and load the latest RELEASE version of the Asus Stock firmware - with default settings [no restore of any old settings].
Then test wireless connectivity on the 2.4 GHz channels to see if you can get solid connection.

If you can get solid connection - then apply 386.5_2 Merlinware and slowly manually add all your customisations - keeping a check on any wobbles with the 2.4 wifi.

If you cannot get a solid connection on stock - time to replace your router?

Good luck ;).

I have the exact same issue on 386.7 stable, AX-58U. Most devices still connect to 2.4ghz, but my phone doesn't - incorrect password. Forgetting the wifi doesn't change anything.

This is in the logs:

Edit: Same issue on RT-AX58U_386.7_1-gd1340bd88e and 386.5.2

OK this seems to be an issue with my specific device's radio. Other phones can connect properly to 2.4ghz.

Yep, reflashed the phone firmware image, 2.4ghz working again. Ignore me.
