RT-BE88u 2.4ghz network dying

New Around Here
Wondering if someone is able to help with this or has had the same experience.
Essentially every couple of days the 2.4ghz interface on my BE88u router just dies. I have two 2.4ghz SSIDs currently, one is IoT dedicated, the other is main LAN. Both of these SSIDs will, at once, start dropping clients and eventually become empty. Once the issue starts, no client on the 2.4ghz band can assosiate, if I try and join the network on my phone I just get a 'Network error' message. This issue will persist until I manually reboot the router or edit a WiFi setting which casues the WiFi radios on the router to restart. I have tried enabling debug on the logs and had a scroll through but I can't see anything obvious. Does anyone have any ideas?

Some information that might be useful...
- Firmware is Asus merlin version 3006.102.6
- 2.4ghz WiFi is set to 20Mhz bandwidth on Channel 6 (I have also tried channel 1 & auto)
- OFDMA/MU-MIMO is disabled
- WiFi 7 mode is ENABLED
- SSIDs for the bands are de-synced so I have one for each
- MLO is DISABLED

Please let me know if posting the logs will be helpful?

Did you check the firmware release thread?

Better report your issue there and someone may be able to help you.

Thanks, I wasnt sure whether it was appropriate to post it there since this is a new router for me so I only have experience on this version of firmware, its not like I've updated it and the issue started. I previously had an RT-AX88u on merlin & it didnt suffer the same issue.

I previously had an RT-AX88u

This router runs different more mature 3004 base firmware. No wonder you had better experience with it. The new 3006 base firmware is work-in-progress upstream at ASUS. Connectivity issues are frequently reported.

Yeah understand that, I dont expect it to be perfect. However this issue is core functionality. I shouldnt need to reboot the router every 2 days to keep 2.4ghz working.

You perhaps know Asuswrt-Merlin doesn't contain any changes to drivers and closed source components. Wireless issues are usually related to Asuswrt base upstream. Check the release thread and see what other RT-BE88U users say, follow their initial setup and settings advice. Depending on your use case you may discover other things not working properly on this router. Trend Micro bwdpi engine is broken, don't count on Adaptive QoS and perhaps other components using application based traffic recognition like Traffic Analyzer and Parental Controls. Web History and AiProtection (at least domain based blocking) are perhaps working okay. Regular SNB Forum visitors are aware about known issues and work their way around them.

I understand your frustration, but this Wi-Fi 7 generation was probably called BE for "beta". 🤷‍♂️

Your best bet is to flash Asus firmware, factory reset then manually configure. Leave the WIFI settings at defaults except for the SSID and password. Then watch it for several days without making changes.
