I really hate to say it: this morning I found my RT-N66U being dead, which turned out to be caused by mechanical failure of the power switch: it no longer latches in the ON position.
Last night the router was happily functional and over night the switch released it self from the ON position to the OFF position.
The toothpick method is the temporary cure to keep the switch in the ON position, later on I will try to open the router and jumper the switch contacts.
This is really a terrible component quality issue.
