Also use 7Zip in Windows to check the CRC. Works very well.

These built-in commands will generate/display the respective crypto hash for the specified file from a Windows command or powershell prompt:

certutil -hashfile filespec MD5 ;use for Asuswrt .w file.

certutil -hashfile filespec SHA256 ;use for Asuswrt-Merlin .w file.

A filespec with spaces will require quotes, "filespec".

For PowerShell I recommend using the built-in command Get-FileHash, rather than calling an external program, as this saves system overhead, although the overhead is small, it must be taken into account when running scripts with thousands of lines.

Get-FileHash .\path\fw

certutil is better for cmd.
