Hi Guys,
I as looking for a way to easily wake my HTPC when I was away from home without opening UDP port 9 to the world (which I have working), and think I have a good idea, but I'm unsure on how to implement it on Merlin's firmware.
I've gone down the route of entware and transmission on the RT-AC66U, and thought I'd be able to get a shell script to fire when I hit a particular custom web page, which I'd be able to access when I was attached to the VPN server running on the router.
So, I'd attach to my home PPTP VPN server, then open a browser and hit http://192.168.1.1/transmission/web/WOL_HTPC.cgi which would call a shell script to send the magic packet.
I'm good for the shell script, but I'm at a loss as to getting CGI scripting working - I thought I'd be able to hang it off the transmission web as it's on a read/write USB drive... but I'm not sure where to start.
Any ideas much appreciated, and Merlin's firmware is much appreciated
Cheers,
Yoggit
