TAILMON TAILMON v1.3.0 -Aug 24, 2025- WireGuard-based Tailscale Installer, Configurator and Monitor (Available in AMTM!)

I imagine not, but would it be possible to wire a client through the guest network on tailscale on the router?

If not, I suppose in order to do that you'd have to just install tailscale on a home device connected to the guest network?
Sounds like that would work! If you need to reach a device on the guest network, just make sure that Tailscale is running on it, and connect it to your tailnet.

Thanks for the reply bro. What do you mean by reach a device on the guest network? I'd just want the ability to be able to choose going through my default network, 192.168.50.x, getting the benefit of using this while away from home, then the ability to go straight in on a guest network, 192.168.7.x, restricting access to my LAN.

But I guess this all depends on what network the device that you are tunneling into will be on, is that what you mean? Would be coolf if there was a way to choose the network without having to ensure the device you tunnel through is on that network. I'm new to tailscale though, so maybe you can do this?

Absolutely, bro. What I mean is, you can have tailscale devices anywhere you please... whether it's on your 50.x network, or your 7.x network, or on some other network across the country... they will all be visible and reachable on your tailnet. It's on you how you control their behavior, and which ways they have to communicate in or out of those networks.

What did you mean with "wire"? Do you mean "physically" wire a client through the guest network? Or do you mean "connect to"?

For example with your implemetation of tailscale through the router, would I be able to setup an exit node on my main and guest network? I think I'm using the right meaning of exit node. Meaning my client will use the assigned DNS/VPN configuration of the exit node it is using? So if one client is on 50.x, it will have it's DNS/VPN settings and the same for 7.x ... or have I totally misunderstood how this works?

Also, could I do something similar by using simple wireguard and not tailscale?

Anyone else unable to update Tailscale using TAILMON (because the download seems extremely slow)?

Updated two Routers yesterday via Tailmon, with no issue.

No problem autoupdating here either.

Note I did need to force stop the Tailscale service manually again and let Tailmon auto restart it ("t" option in the config menu):
Bash:
/opt/etc/init.d/S06tailscaled stop

Not sure why my setup is different from everyone else's.

No issues to report over here either... looks like it autoupdated just fine without any intervention on my end. ;) @XIII ... could be a bad CDN or something that you're pulling the download from. Perhaps give it some time and try again?

Yes, when I tried again later it downloaded the whole binary in less than a second…

I had this problem yesterday, very slow to download and then failed most of the way through.
Tried it again a few mins later and it loaded straight away.

There is no such thing. I know for a fact!
As an American that lived most of his life in a border town (NF, NY) I can vouch for that!
