New Around Here
Hi all,

I recently decided to give up fixed line ADSL as I will be travelling around the UK a lot.

After doing some research into 4G Wireless routers, I settled with the ASUS 4G-AC68U partly because it looks cool and also due to its WIFI antenna ranges.

Initial testing of the router was done with a pay as you go (PAYG) sim card on MVNO network, this was simple to setup and it autoconfigured the APN. I did not experience any drops in internet connection.

So I decided to go with an EE sim with plenty of data. I immediately noticed the speeds were faster, however the WAN connection keeps dropping.

Here are some logs over 2minutes showing you it dropping connection twice

Things I have done:

  • Upgraded the firmware
  • Tested a different 4G sim, it was stable and ok
  • Checked the signal, full strength and line of sight with transmitter
  • Posted here for help!

Any ideas, I will contact EE potentially to see if there are specific configurations to be done.

with your EE sim - you need to confirm the APN values, don't use auto, as the SIM may not have the APN's pre-programmed.

The cdc-wdm warnings - likely the 4g modem itself is resetting, hence you see hotplug eventually picking the interface back up...
