Which one ? DS112J or DS114 ?

About to buy a NAS. Cant decide between Synology DS112J or DS114.

DS114 is a slightly higher spec in processor and ram but £30 more.

I don't really want to spend an extra £30 if i don't need to. Ill only be using the NAS for a single home user to back up movies/mp3's and streaming.

Will the DS112J do ?

For your applications, it doesn't matter. The DS114 will have slightly higher performance, so backups might be a bit faster. But you won't notice a difference for streaming.

If you can, go for a 2 bay NAS. Even if you leave one bay empty for now.

Ive now ordered the DS122J along with a Seagate 4TB HDD.

Just wanted to know, once i've received it do i just put the new drive in the DS122J then install the software or do i need to format the drive first then put in the NAS and run software ?

Or will the software format and set up ?
