I can't believe the product information for this thing is so crap! Anyway.

This tip is:
If you have a adapter that has a amber light in the middle and you are having drops in internet or slower speeds, it is because the wiring where you have it plugged in isn't good enough.

If its amber, it means that it sees the other ones in the house, but whatever is plugged into it is only going to get 10 megs - 45 mps. (I got 46, but it was being fractious).

If its green, it will go above 50. And since we pay for 50, I want 50 goshdarnit.

My husband's mancave was in another room, and his was working fine. All greens. I ordered another longer Ethernet cord, and plunked mine in his room, and all was great. Speed tested wonderfully.

So far I haven't had any drops.

This seems an elementary thing when I type it, but since there is no information online about this, I figured I'd post it here to help others.

Bottom line: It does matter where you put it!
