I have an RT-AC3100 running Diversion and SkyNet with a VPN provider. An RT-AC87U dropped into my lap, and I wonder is there any plus for me to switch routers. I cannot find a definitive answer online.

thanks

The RT-AC3100 is a far better router. Do not switch to the buggy and no longer (RMerlin) supported RT-AC87U.

About | Asuswrt-Merlin (asuswrt-merlin.net)

Between issues with the Quantenna radios, buggy LAN ports, and dropped RMerlin support, there is no reason to switch.

You can use it in Media Bridge mode though. For any wired capable devices, you may have. :)
