Those of you with either the AC56U or AC68U can you tell me what kinda speeds do you get using your router as a OpenVPN Client?

Would there be any performance differences at all between using either Merlins or DD-WRT FW?

My firmware has various OpenVPN optimizations that would increase its performance over stock firmware.

No idea about DD-WRT.

Have any speed test results testing to external VPN servers at all?

No, because those would usually be bottlenecked by whichever server you connect to.

I tested this once a couple of years ago
openvpnclient in a dd-wrt router connected to another port
then my main router in the mediaswitch (fibre-tp).
to get use of an anonymous IP service on internet,
just by changing wifi hotspot in my house.

Really bad performance compared to vpn clients on my PC's

however I'm using rt-ac68u/merlin as an openvpnserver without complaining today
