ASUS GS-BE 12000- random internet disconnections

Ernesto306

New Around Here
Router: ASUS GS-BE 12000

Modem: BGW320-505

We switched to the ASUS router from an amplifi gamers edition. We also have AT&T fiber 1GB plan. It has gone amazing , however, the biggest pain point has been random disconnects , usually solved with unplugging both router/ modem and plugging back in. Works perfectly no issues and then randomly , could be a day or few days later, the same thing happens. Have to reset router/modem and works like nothing has happened.

Below is the last few days

4-2-26: WiFi network showed no internet connection. Router/modem reset. Issue solved.

4-6-26: WiFi network was working, randomly disconnected from my phone and I had to go manually and reconnect to to my network. Internet was working.

4-10-26: WiFi network showed no internet connection. Router/modem reset. Issue solved.

4-11-26: WiFi network showed no internet connection. Router/modem reset. Issue solved.

4-21-26: WiFi network showed no internet connection. Router/modem reset. Issue solved.

Mind you, this is just for April. Happened a few times in march (router purchased early march)

And each instance is one time, it hasn’t happened more than once on that date.

Any ideas what this could be? Do I need to get a different router brand? I don’t want to I like this one and hoping it’s just a wrong setting somewhere. Do I need to open a claim with ASUS for a new one?

I appreciate your help!

This is what Chat GPT saidi n regards to my logs, not sure where to begin

I went through your log, and the key thing to understand is this:

👉 There is NO evidence here of your internet (WAN) actually dropping.
👉 What your logs do show is WiFi instability and forced client disconnects.

Let me break it down in plain terms.

🔍 What your logs actually show

1. Constant deauthentication events

You have repeated entries like:

  • Deauth_ind ... reason: inactivity (4)
  • Deauth_ind ... reason: not authenticated (9)
  • WLC_SCB_DEAUTHORIZE error (-30)

👉 Translation:
Your router is kicking devices off WiFi, not losing internet.

2. Band steering / roaming attempts failing

These lines are very important:

  • bsd: Sending act Frame ... transition target wl1.1
  • STA ... no response
  • Deauth ... Previous authentication no longer valid

👉 Translation:
Your ASUS GS-BE12000 is trying to:

  • Move devices between bands (2.4 / 5 / 6 GHz)
  • But devices are not responding properly
  • So the router forcibly disconnects them

This creates:

  • Devices randomly dropping WiFi
  • “No internet” messages (even though internet is fine)

3. Weak / fluctuating signal

You have RSSI values like:

  • -78, -82, -79

👉 That’s weak signal territory
This makes roaming/band steering MUCH worse and more aggressive.

⚠️ What’s NOT in your logs (very important)

I do NOT see:

  • WAN disconnects
  • DHCP failures
  • ISP drops from your BGW320-505
  • PPPoE or fiber link issues

👉 That strongly suggests:
Your resets are fixing the router’s WiFi behavior—not the internet connection itself.

Do I need to open a claim with ASUS for a new one?

Call ASUS Support or return the device if it doesn't perform as advertised. There is no much experience with this particular model. I believe only one SNB Forums member mentioned they have it or have intentions to purchase it. Also, this device may lose support in the US in 2027 due to FCC ban on non-US made consumer-grade routers. I would wait and see what happens before purchasing new routers.

DEAUTHORIZE error (-30)

This error is reported frequently on different ASUS routers. Some people try to address it by disabling SmartConnect, MLO, Airtime Fairness, etc. features affecting clients connectivity. Search around and you'll find different suggestions. You have to test what works for you. The low signal level disconnections are expected to happen as well. What worked with your previous router may not work exactly the same way with the new one due to differences in radio design. This is a consumer device and if it doesn't perform well on Auto I would send it back. The user is not expected to tweak the settings to make it work. Good luck!

I had the fiber/WAN side of my BGW320-500 gateway go down. It does not come back up, but then again, I had messed with the connections trying to bypass (in the past) and had switched to a shorter Corning Shuttered APC cable. The tech who came to restore service said it was obviously my fault. Watching him clean, align, each fiber junction I realized it was from those moments of disconnect and reconnect, even tough I hadn't touched it in a while.

You may be suffering from less range than your prior router, unfortunately..

it works perfectly when working, it is just the random disconnects and simly solved with a reset...and i test the gateway and wifi is working perfectly

Along @Tech9 's recommendations:

You could try disabling Roaming Assistant which might be found under Advanced Settings -> Wireless -> Professional (tab). You'll need to do this for each of the three bands (3x).

If that doesn't resolve the dropping also under Advanced Settings -> Administration -> Feedback (tab) create/send a Feedback log to ASUS along with a description of your problem and time of last occurrence.

I have only done resets not a factory reset, can that help?

I also posted on redditt and a user suggested it could be a bug.

It is just so random, it was 7 days until it happened today at 3am

If you never changed much the default settings - unlikely. It won’t fix the weak signal issue either.
