Beta Asuswrt-Merlin 3006.102.5 Beta is now available

3006.102.5 Beta 1 is now available for all supported models. The focus of this release is the merge of updated GPLs, and the implementation of a new System Log -> Connection interface. Asus also migrated the RT-BE92U to the same codebranch as other Wifi 7 models.

Known issues:

• Apply button not working on Wireless setting for some models with connected AiMesh nodes (Fix provided by Asus, to be included in beta 2)
• DNSDirector not working properly wihen existing SDNs (Non-primary subnet SDNs not skipped by it, fixed for beta 2)
• Ports are enumerated in the wrong order on the RT-BE92U (10G, 4, 1, 2, 3). (Wrong Realtek driver used by the RT-BE92U, will be fixed in next release)
• Captive Portal no longer starting (A change in lighttpd is causing the config file to be overwritten with an AiCloud configuration, fix provided by Asus)

Installation went fine. I did test that now when you select authentication method WPA/WPA2 Personnel you can select encryption AES/TKIP and it sticks after you hit the apply button. Even it alpha2 this didn't seem to work. When I get a chance, I will try connecting my ten year old Honeywell thermostat and see if I can get it to connect and stay connected. Thank you for all your on going improvements.

After updating GT-BE98 Pro from 3006.102.4 to 3006.102.5 beta 1, my Synology NAS aggregated network failed to establish PIA OVPN connections again.
It was working well and never had a problem with firmware 3006.102.4 and before.

Again falling back to 3006.102.4 and everything is good.


What's changed? Please help, anyone?

I just loaded 3006.102.5_beta1 on my BE92U router. I was using ASUS stock. I'm now experiencing issues connecting to the Internet. The 10GB port works. The connecting issue is with the 2.5GB WAN/LAN-1 port.

I've tried the following settings for "Primary WAN".
- WAN Auto Detection -- 2.5 GB WAN/LAN-1 did not work, 10 GB WAN/LAN-1 worked.
- 10 GB WAN/LAN-1 -- 10 GB WAN/LAN-1 worked.
- 2.5 GB WAN/LAN-1 -- 2.5 GB WAN/LAN-1 sometimes work. The led light remained red.
Using FIREFOX I was able to connect to some sites but not others (strange).

As a test, I loaded 3006.102.4 and retested the various "Primary WAN" settings. Everything worked as expected.

As a second test, I loaded the alpha2 firmware. I experienced the same issues that I saw in beta1.

since u come from stock, maybe you might want to do a hard reset of your router and reconfigure everything again

Dirty flashed RT-BE92U.

I can confirm that DnsDirector now works as intended (I can use 'nslookup' even when having ipv6 dns servers).

However I now have a weird bug:
The ethernet ports on main page is showed incorrectly:

LAN1 (which is 2.5Gbit) is moved to LAN4.
LAN2 (which is 1 Gbit) is moved to LAN1.

The ports do work correctly though (and yes, I have cleared the browser cache).
I have also given the router a cold boot as well as disconnecting the wires.

since u come from stock, maybe you might want to do a hard reset of your router and reconfigure everything again

I did both "resets" ("factory rest" via administration) and a "hard reset" (WPS & power) whenever I load new firmware on this router. Since it's a "test" router, its configuration is very simple. I configure it with what is necessary to test those items that need to be tested. I've experienced too many issues with this router (IPV6 & DNS related) that I can't use this router as the main "home network" router. I've reported the issues that I know of to ASUS but they say that "can't reproduce them".

After reading Poul Bak's post, I decided to post the displayed ethernet ports. The router is configured to be "WAN Auto Detection". Maybe these two screen captures will be of some hope.

The following is with the internet connection via the 10GB port.

Note / Issue: My laptop is hard wired into LAN-4 not LAN-3.

Assumption: My laptop is still showing that its connection is via LAN-3 (which is incorrect) and the internet is via LAN-4.

The ports are seriously mixed up and that causes your issue - as well as the display issue. Hope this gets fixed before the release.

My router went nuts. Upgraded from last stable.
Wasn't able to figure out how to access it. At best I was momentarily connected but it said WPA3 password was wrong.
I did not reach the login window via cable either.
Resetting it and I'm back though. Slowly installing back most of the things I tried out before. So far so good.

Wish I had some more useful info, besides my model and the things listed in my signature being installed and setup. Currently, have skipped some scripts after the reinstall. See * in signature. Everything without * seems to work fine on this beta.

same on my 92u as well. It was like that on alpha2 as well.

My lan-3 is showing up on lan/wan-1

doesnt seem to affect any clients on my switch on that port.

Is this my server (Unraid/Docker/VM) doing something strange or has something changed between .4 stable and this beta affecting this?
Both numbers keep "counting" up every 1-2 sec but drops down to sane numbers after it counts up to 200-250 "clients".
Sane is like Clients: 30-40 and the "x clients are connecting to..." goes away but it starts counting up again and repeats.
Docker is using macvlan so the containers shows up as individual clients/devices and that's fine but I don't understand the ~200 ghost clients that mysterious goes away and comes back.





Edit: Ok. So dirty downgrade to 3006.102.4 stopped this behavior.
