Asuswrt-Merlin 374.43 is out

Merlin, can you please specify how the DUAL WAN works in your firmware?

I have 2 modems, one is an adsl and other is a cable modem..
somehow the "fall back" connection on LAN 1 never gets ip nor connect properly when the main one is down... any idea what could cause it?

are there any particular options or settings to follow to fully enable dual wan?

as other mentioned in this forum, with version .43 the settings for the secondary wan are not visible.. I cannot get to select PPPoE or auto IP or anything like that.

No idea, the Dual WAN code is quite complex, and is something I haven't really tried to study, since the code is spread all over the firmware, and there is no comments in the code explaining how things work.

Wait for the next release, it's possible Asus might have fixed the webui in 376_1779.

This project is a hobby. Other things have priorities in my life.

Take as much time as you need merlin.

I wouldn't want you to release something faster than you should because than it wouldn't be as good.

Things are always better when they are not rushed by a deadline.

It's really awesome that you do what you do for everyone by improving asuswrt firmware. Better to be done out of passion than for money

The thing with hobbies is that you have to enjoy them. Also, as you do this for the benefit of others, it and you have to feel appreciated.

I would rather you slow right down than give up completely.

RT-AC68U. This is the first time I've experienced this issue and it occurs with both 1663 and 374.43.

I have run both 42 and 43 and have not noticed any signal issues. What band do you notice on and how much lower is it ? I did try the new Asus release 1663 and it had a huge drop so i quickly reverted back to 43_2.
 
Both bands, but most prominently on 2.4. I didn't measure it (should have), but my Roku in our bedroom (furthest point 55ft) would constantly buffer every couple of minutes, which has never happened with this router before. I've had it since last December and have installed every new firmware release.

Process:

1. 1665/3=reduced signal
2. 5656=ok
3. 43=reduced signal
4. 5656=ok

Random Reboots

I just recognized that I had random reboots with 273.40 - since the log stated it fixed with post 273.40 - I flashed 273.43.

here are still random reboots, upto 10min delay. i reset the complete router and installed usb fan for cooling. got down from 60° to 53°. still random reboot.

didnt try yet old 273.3x

Ok i tested this today 2 separate times switching from 42_2 to 43_2 i only tested the 5 ghz band and yes there is indeed a 6% signal loss from 42 to 43. I doubt it would make much difference except on a fringe area but there is a difference. Maybe Merin might know why.
