My devices don't like the firmware that are connected to the AC68U router on 2.4Ghz band. Every hour on the hour, while streaming a movie, tv show; a device will stop streaming and has no internet connection for about 30 sec. Even though a device is still connected to a router via wifi. Tried different channels and still no joy.

Nothing odd in the logs.
Got a similar issue. Got an AX86U and all my 2.4GHz devices work fine on _4. Upgrade to _6 and most of them fail to connect or drop connection continually/very slow throughput/can't stream. Restarted etc etc.

Rolled back to _4 and no issues. So I respectfully disagree that it's something with my setup.

Did you notice the date? May 5 is the default startup date before the router gets a time sync (NTP), so you might look into that first.

ax88 upgrade from 386.2_2 to 386.2_6
no issues to report

(AX86 + AX86U mesh, 1Gbps internet, proper wiring; the only thing running on the router is a VPN client for a specific IP address)
Folks when enable Parental Controls for specific MAC addresses to filter out adult content, it literally cripples any video calls regardless of IP or router the system connected.
- MS Teams video calls simply frozen video
- kids complained for Google meets and Zoom video problems

This is not wifi or cabling issue - as the problem seen on desktop connected with CAT8 cable directly to the main router.

P.S. I am not saying that this is a regression 386.2_6; I believe this is a generic 386 release problem.

Thoughts? anyone else having such experience?

With my AX88U and AX58U node, I didn't see these issues when my daughter was using Teams for school, she had no complaints with parental controls. Have you tested with the VPN off or using a Guest SSID? Because I did see issues when using Guest 1, so all my Guest networks are on Guest 2 till a new GPL comes out and I can test again,

AX86U dirty flash from 386.2_4 to 386.2_6 yesterday. Everything working as expected - WiFi good for both 2.4G and 5G devices.
Thanks Merlin.

UPDATE-2: had to reinstall Bowers & Wilkins Z2 (AirPlay) speaker to connect to the router on WiFi 2.4GHz, and reboot the router to get this working as an Airplay speaker for iOS/Mac devices: it's working fine now.

Lost connection from some of the smart home devices after a power outage a couple of days ago in North Texas. All reconnected automatically after updating mesh clients & main router to 386.2_6 then rebooting.

All done while remotely connected from a 14 hour time zone difference; now that is what I call smooth.

Thank you @RMerlin

this impacts all devices attached, both wired and wireless. Including Google Nest and Kuna cameras.

AX88U and AC86U dirty upgrade from 386.2_4 to 386.2_6: everything´s fine even guestnet 1 on 2.4 and 5GHz.

Great work - THX RMerlin!

Dirty flash from 386.2_4 to 386.2_6 on RT-AC86U with no issues. And somehow DuckDNS is working properly again through DNS-O-Matic.

From what previous firmware and on which router?

Got a similar issue. Got an AX86U and all my 2.4GHz devices work fine on _4. Upgrade to _6 and most of them fail to connect or drop connection continually/very slow throughput/can't stream. Restarted etc etc.

Rolled back to _4 and no issues. So I respectfully disagree that it's something with my setup.
I dont have drop connections or issues with devices aren’t able to connect to router via WiFi.

After a bit of testing, ALL my devices on both WiFi bands lose internet connection around 5:28pm EST for 30 sec. As if internet stopped working for 30sec.

Looking at the logs, I don’t see anything odd. Between 5pm and 6pm, log shows Diversion blocking incoming connections and few outgoing blocked connections. But log doesn’t show any errors and why all devices lose internet at the same time. Diversion is updated. Entware packages are updated.

Furthermore, today, while watching YouTube videos, every video started at 480p. This was not an issue with previous firmwares. It wasn’t an issues yesterday. Nothing changed on my devices in the past 24 hours.

I’m still getting great down and up load speeds.
I am also seeing adds on some websites today, that weren’t there yesterday.

More testing needed.

This weekend I will nuke/reset everything and start from scratch. Firmware, router settings, Diversion, Skynet, etc.

I’ll report back if I find a solution, even if I have to revert back to previous firmware.

Could have been a bad flash, because I flashed the firmware over WiFi instead using lan cable. It does happen at times.
