Just wanted to mention that a factory reset (and jffs format) after upgrading was critical this time around, I generally always upgrade in place and go. This time a bunch of things weren't working though from web history to spdmerlin.

True. Tested this release with factory/jffs reset with AX86S, was running smoothly and much better wifi. Dirty upgrade with AX86U, not sure what was going wrong. but buffer size was huge. Now factory reset with amtm + addon installed, RAM usage is lower than before and buffer size sort of in the normal range, I think,

Updated firmware on the 14th. Router (GT-AX6000) randomly rebooted just now. Very light load; watching twitch stream and running an online game/discord.

There doesn't seem to be any indication of a problem causing this reboot.. it just rebooted out of nowhere. Snip of log just before:

Don't run any scripts or whatever that's normally talked about here; just using it as a simple person router.

No idea what to look for in the log though, so I can provide the full log and config with guidance on any personal information to scrub beforehand. Not educated in this stuff.


EDIT: It just rebooted again just over an hour later, what the hell?

Downgraded back to 386.7_2 for now. Have a suspicion what's causing it but that'd be completely insane if it was.

I'm unable to check Asus servers since updating to the latest firmware with my GT-AX11000. I have two mesh nodes (XT8's) still on stock Asus firmware. I've been getting this ever since updating the main unit:

I manually downloaded and updated the mesh nodes to the latest Asus firmware, but that didn't help.

I just tried this check and it worked fine for me. Not really sure why you'd be trying that though if on RMerlin firmware. What upstream DNS is your router using? I'm using Quad9.

Checking for my mesh nodes, as that's an easier way to update them than manually. Also just handy as a notification when an update is available.

I did a dirty on my AX86U to 388.1 upgrade last week. Was running fine until yesterday. Streaming was laging, wifi unstable. After a reboot issues were gone, for some time, but now th are back.

Some errors in the log:

When wifi was unstable (it looks like only 5ghz channel), I had a lot of these entries:
rc_service: waitting "restart_wireless" via cfg_server ...

@RMerlin any suggestions to pinpoint the source of the issues?

I've tried checking and I've not spotted this little bug being reported elsewhere:

I've found for a while that clearing the 2.4GHz checkbox for "use channels 12 & 13" (along with leaving disable 11b clear) seems to help devices roam from my GT-AX6000 to the RP-AX56 - when it's sensible to do so.

This morning I found the router is using 2.4GHz channel 13 anyhow - and devices are still roaming onto the RP-AX56 just fine. Odd, and it's not a complaint, just a bit weird.

So far as I'm aware it's the first time this has happened since the upgrade. Everything I have will use channels 12 & 13 (UK), but the observation is that roaming has previously suffered. If I had anything that didn't use those channels though, I guess this could be a major issue!

I am seeing my download folder , so the one from 14th Dec was taking me to AXE instead of AX

Although n=1, I can confirm that a clean update solved my vague router problems (after I first tried a dirty one). Not sure why a dirty upgrade is advised.

Sometime, a null change can work the same. I do that occasionally before resorting to a wipe reconfig.

Revert to 386.5_2 everything is now stable again.The 388.1 was not stable. Sometimes the router had a restart , out of the blue. For the info, this was on a RT-AX86s

It's few hours work to check all pages with settings, compare what was how...

Screen shots work fine. Backing up specific nvram values speeds things up too. I don't get what is so hard.
