New Around Here
I recently upgraded my RT-AC66U to Merlin 380.69_2. I was running the stock firmware earlier. After the firmware upgrade, USB drive that I was using earlier with the same router is not being detected.

I was using USB 3.0 1TB flash drive for a long time with the same router and have lot of data on the drive. So I cannot reformat it. System log shows the drive as attached (Inateck ASM1153E in the log below) but the GUI shows that no drive is detected.

This is what I see in the system log:
Mar 25 07:43:00 kernel: usb 1-1.1: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 4
Mar 25 07:43:01 kernel: usb 1-1.1: configuration #1 chosen from 1 choice

Mar 25 07:43:03 kernel: sd 1:0:0:0: Attached scsi generic sg0 type 0

I connected a 16GB USB stick to the same USB port and that is detected and mounted OK. After I connect the USB stick I see this in system log:

Mar 25 12:34:18 kernel: usb 1-1.2: new high speed USB device using ehci_hcd and address 5

I spent much time searching for the solution. Any help is appreciated.

I recently upgraded my RT-AC66U to Merlin 380.69_2. I was running the stock firmware earlier. After the firmware upgrade, USB drive that I was using earlier with the same router is not being detected.

Did you remove the external drive before updating?

Just saying...

No I did not ... Didn't occur to me that I have to. Would that have corrupted the disk somehow. I am now trying to access to disk from my mac but not able to see it from my mac either. It was originally formatted as EXT3

Ignore my comment about not being able to access the disk from my mac. Of course I was not able to, since it is EXT3 disk. I am able to see the disk now from my mac.

Any suggestions on how to fix it to be accessed from my ASUS router.

Don't see any resolution to this. Is the takeaway that USB drives HAVE to be disconnected before a firmware upgrade; Whether Merlin or Stock?
