Due to the restirctive blocking, I have removed https://raw.githubusercontent.com/S...lternates/fakenews-gambling-porn-social/hosts and replaced it with the less intrusive https://raw.githubusercontent.com/StevenBlack/hosts/master/alternates/fakenews-gambling-porn/hosts

This change only affects new installations or if you change or reapply one of the four blocking file types.
Even after changing the blocking file I still see this:
Code:
 3. Medium
    github.com/StevenBlack/fakenews-gambling-porn-social,
    adblock.mahakala.is.
    Comprehensive list of blocked domains.
Filesize: ~7.7 MB, ~270'000 blocked hosts.
How can I get the one without "social"?

Additionally: when updating I get a lot of empty lines after this line:
Code:
 i Running update-bf.div for primary blocking file(s)
Is that correct behavior?

As noted here

Just updated entware, and pixelserv tls to 2.1.2

Sep 14 05:08:57 pixelserv-tls[32340]: pixelserv-tls 2.1.2 (compiled: Sep 8 2018 20:33:38) options: <none>
Sep 14 05:08:57 pixelserv-tls[32340]: Abort: Address already in use - :*:443
if i change 443 to 442 I get this:

Sep 14 05:08:57 pixelserv-tls[32340]: Abort: Address already in use - :*:80

httpd 30727 asus 10u IPv4 491040 0t0 TCP 127.0.0.1:80
httpds 30726 asus 10u IPv4 491112 0t0 TCP 192.168.50.1:443

So the router GUI & something on 80 is interfering with it. never had this problem before.
Also getting tonnes of ERR_SSL_VERSION_INTERFERENCE in my browsers, connecting to TLS 1.2 pages including to the router itself.
Must I change one or both of these ports? Previously I could access my router @ https 443, which was very convenient, not sure what exactly is going on on port 80 however...

Kvic states

I believe you're a Diversion user. Unfortunately Entware and Diversion hate each other and fight along. Both sides could do better and naturally Diversion should take an extra step..

Joking aside. I think you shall drop by Diversion's thread for best course of action.

What's under the hood during Entware upgrade..

When a person or a script initiates "opkg upgrade <package>", Entware traditionally overwrites everything that includes the /opt/etc/init.d/Sxxxx file. For some packages, conf files (e.g. lighttpd.conf for lighttpd) are preserved but the whole situation is far from ideal.

So Diversion in an attempt to be user friendly, perhaps require a few more steps in the upgrade process.

EDIT:

If I don't remember wrong, "opkg upgrade <package>" also restart the service i.e. execute /opt/etc/init.d/Sxxxx right before it finishes.

Environment: RT-AC86U
Firmware: 384.7_alpha3-gf2a90e48c
Extras: AMTM 1.3, Diversion 4.0.1 (Blocking: Standard+), Skynet 6.4.4 (Defaults), Entware 64-bit (latest)

I have noticed slowdowns going to specific websites, running Windows 10 Pro 1803 (all updates applied), use https://drudgereport.com/ as an example.
  • Diversion Enabled:
    • Firefox (latest) - 135 seconds (no display until 90 seconds)
    • Chrome (latest) - 45 seconds (no display until 20 seconds)
    • Edge (latest) - 5 seconds
  • Diversion Disabled:
    • Firefox (latest) - 2 seconds
    • Chrome (latest) - 2 seconds
    • Edge (latest) - 2 seconds
I would rather not use Edge. Are there any tweaks to Firefox/Chrome that I could apply to speed things up?

BTW - Diversion and its previous incarnation are great add-on's that work very well!

I keep getting diversion restarting dnsmasq over and over again, was going on all night and guests were not able to connect to the web in the morning. https://pastebin.com/7rc8m76j happens on every reboot; only using 143 mb ram, diversion is not blocking. I am using 4.0.1

Small Diversion update
There is no version change, use 1233 or d and Update to force update.

Changes made:
- Checks S80pixelserv-tls before restarting pixelserv-tls through the Diversion UI. If S80pixelserv-tls is not the Diversion optimized file, it is replaced with the local copy.
This change is effective on all actions that you can perform through the Diversion UI, including updating Entware packages.

- Blocking file types descriptor changed from github.com/StevenBlack/fakenews-gambling-porn-social to github.com/StevenBlack/fakenews-gambling-porn

doesn't look like pixel serv is loading on its own properly i have to manually load it in diversion, i was getting ssl mismatch errors while browsing again & could not access servstats

hitting apply on lan - lanip is the only thing that unbuggers the thing.
I'm sure your problem is not Diversion related. There will be messages in the Syslog before the line "Diversion: restarted Dnsmasq to apply settings".

Without more info I am unable to help.

That description is fixed in the update I posted above.

Fixed now in Diversion, thanks @kvic. Diversion users be aware that by manually updating through "opkg upgrade <package>" my fix in Diversion will not help. You'll have to use the Diversion UI to update Entware packages.

Router Model, Router Mode would be helpful too.

This site loads immediately in Firefox here. Are you using Diversion Lite or Standard?

Diversion Standard.

I forced the Diversion update today and even though I have Firefox Clear Browsing/History Data upon Exit turned on, I went ahead and manually cleared the Browser Cache/History. Did the same for Chrome. Now, it works as expected - near immediate load time. I tried on a WiFi Ultrabook and another Wired Desktop, without clearing the cache/history, and the page load time is near immediate (about 2 seconds). Not sure what happened, but working as expected now. There were a few sites that loaded slow and over multiple days/times but are now back where expected.

If it happens again, I will investigate further and let you know!

BTW - I pay for 100/10, but they recently bumped me for FREE to 200/10 and generally get 200+/10+. It has been very consistent, although others don't seem to have the same experience (Spectrum now).

I just did the openssl update via AMTM.

And now I just forced the updated in diversion but it broke pixel serv which was working fine after the previous update.

I've tried to disable / enable it which didn't fix it.

I also went into the pixelserv sub menu in AMTM and tried to reinstall it but same result.

Code:
Log shows this.

Sep 14 19:28:02 Entware (armv7sf-k2.6): Failed to start pixelserv-tls (Diversion) from /opt/bin/diversion
Sep 14 19:32:05 Diversion: created br0:pixelserv-tls 192.168.1.3, from /opt/etc/init.d/S80pixelserv-tls

Then it worked for me

Try turning off router for 30sec and see if it starts correctly
If not try reinstall Diversion and upgrade pixelserv-tls again
