The tri-band Orbi LBR20 combines an AC2200 wireless mesh router with a 4G LTE-A Cat 18 modem, a design that can either let customers solely rely on a cellular connection for internet access, or use the 4G LTE-A connection as a back-up/failover service for their primary internet connection.

The LBR20 uses a cellular SIM card from service providers such as AT&T and T-Mobile and provides a maximum cellular link speed of up to 1.2 Gbps.

Powered by a quad-core 710 MHz processor, the LBR20 supports maximum link rates of 400 Mbps at 2.4GHz, 866Mbps at 5GHz, and 866Mbps for its 5GHz backhaul. NETGEAR also lists the LBR20’s Wi-Fi coverage between 1500 – 2000 sq. ft., but being a mesh device, coverage is expandable using any Orbi tri-band Wi-Fi AC mesh satellite product.

Physical ports on the LBR20 include two GbE jacks (one WAN, one LAN) and two SMA type antenna ports (antenna not included). Additional listed features include seamless roaming, NETGEAR Armor (free for 30 days), Circle Smart Parenting, Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant compatibility, and setup/management using the Orbi app.

Available now, the Orbi LBR20 4G LTE Advanced Whole Home WiFi Router is priced at $399.99.
