New Around Here
Hi all,

I have an ASUS RT-AC86U with Merlin 386.4.0. Ii was working fine until yesterday, when it stopped resolving DNS queries.

No device connected to the router (neither WiFi nor Ethernet), can resolve any DNS. I tried windows, linux and iOS.

ping to IP works, traceroute to IP also works from computer. But if I try nslookup, dig or ping to domain instead of IP, it doesn't work.

BUT if I try performing the same ping, nslookup or traceroute from the network tools in the router, all of them work perfectly.

I'm clueless here on what could be happening or why, since I didn't change anything before it stopped working.

Thank you very much in advance.

Try the 386.5 beta. Might be a good thing to do a factory reset and reconfigure.

Same problem with 386.5
and the problem disappears when I'm connected to the ISP router.

Thank,
Well that all seems very plain and simple. Does it ever work and then dies? Or never works? Any syslog clues?

never works.
After connecting it to my ISP router, it works for about 1 week

Ex.: try to reach https://www.hydroquebec.com/ = ERR_CONNECTION_RESET
I connect to the ISP router
https://www.hydroquebec.com/ = work
I connect to my Asus router
https://www.hydroquebec.com/ = work for 1 week
A connection reset isn't the same as a failed DNS resolution attempt. What if you nslookup www.hydroquebec.com on the same machine? Does the browser try to use any DNS-over-HTTPS that needs to be disabled?

Have you paid your Hydro Quebec bill? ;)

On my iPhone I got a SSL_PROTOCOL_ERROR.
In my Brave Browser, DNS-over-HTTPS is enabled.
Safari : can't get a secure connection...
I used HQ as an example, but I have a few other websites that do.

Thank,

Connection refused is probably because your IP is blacklisted by their server. Switching to your ISP router means you get a different IP, which happens to not be blacklisted.
