I currently use an AC86 as my primary router. I have an AC1900P which is my spare and I keep it in synch with the firmware, features and scripts that I run on the AC86. This is getting increasingly difficult as the router is flashing the warning that it is almost out of NVRAM.

Just a few data points:

AC1900P Router minimally configured no scripts running 384.13 NVRAM used 54 KB

TM-AC68 running as AP 52 KB

AC68 running 384.15 scripts, 2 VPN clients and 1 VPN server 60 KB

AC68 running 384.16 scripts, 2 VPN clients and 1 VPN server 60 KB

AC68 running 384.16 scripts, 2 VPN clients and 1 VPN server and dual WAN USB 63 KB
(This is what triggered the warning)

AC68 After removing 10 static IPs it reduced NVRAM used 62 KB.

AC68 running 384.16 after factory reset NVRAM erased 57 KB

The point I'm trying to make is that with all the features and options of the latest firmware individuals using older routers with more limited NVRAM are going to be forced to be selective on how many features they can select and run with just 65,536 bytes of NVRAM.

Yes and the chip will only take so many flashes before it gives up the ghost. I wonder if anybody has hit that limit and there router was bricked and went to heaven. :eek:o_O:rolleyes:
