Do you know what is ASUS reason to limit the signal strength?
They just wanted to make aimesh more needed? :)

If memory serves me correctly other vendors were complaining that asus routers were powered above allowed spec and the fcc mandated that the all routers be configured in a way to disallow the public to be able to change the radio settings. Hence Johns fork from before that part of the code went closed source.

To reduce risk of getting cancer? Lol.
Nah.. just some FCC regulations.

Should the AiProtection signature version update automatically? If so how often does it run the check?

Every two days.

Have been having several issues with latest build compared to flawless usages with previous builds.

The vast majority of complains are related to wifi, which is outside of my control.

Wifi is working flawlessly here, the main issue I have is the router crashing and rebooting by itself every day or so.

Worked perfectly on previous versions and also havent changed any settings.

Thanks for all your hard work tho, even with a daily rebooting modem, its the best :)

When is the next build release scheduled for ?

Would be nice if you included the router model that you were experiencing problems with.

I have the feeling that my phones have lag while playing clash royale compared with the n66u with John's fork.

I enabled most of the security options avaliable on the ac86u, and I suspect disabling some feature would do the trick, but since there several wifi complaints on this version I thought I would ask here before opening a new thread.

Can it be a wifi issue or should I look into features?
Any known to cause lags?

Why don't you go with a previous build then? What this build have that is a must have for you? Just curious...

I bought my 1900P last summer, installed 380.68_4 and I'm still on it... but I keep reading about newer version from time to time in case I need to patch a nasty security hole.

Thought if you go 384 you can't go back? or am i mixing crap up again....

I've been having issues just with 2.4 WiFi and these (garbage) Fire tablets (hd7 i think? something with amazon freetime app for the kids). I actually just posted something about it, the issue is driving me bananas... and the little brat, i mean my daughter crying about it doesn't help my meddle.

***EDIT - My RT3200

:) i've been working on this for a few days, my mind isn't home right now, please leave a message.

Annnnnnd Bingo:

the 3200 isn't backwards compat.... My luck indeed. i guess im buying the newer version of this crappy tabby, hopefully that jawn works.

384 release notes by the man, myth, legend himself:
"Added support for the RT-AC3200 (based on 382_19466 components). Note that once upgraded to 382/384, the RT=AC3200 gets upgraded to 128 KB nvram, which means you can NOT downgrade back to any 380.xx release"

Anyone noticed a problem with "custom icons" inside the "Network Map" section? I can rename the devices, but when I choose a custom icon it automatically closes the screen so I can't click on the "Apply" button. Just uploaded from a 380 version and this was working before. Thanks!

Working absolutely fine here, try after a router reboot and clearing your browser cache and cookies.

Maybe you could give the latest stock firmware a try? They’re all 382.x so should ‘downgrade’ fine.

Edit: some have successfully downgraded to 380.x

Ok, just a waiting game then.

Next question, anyone that got the Ai protection email alerting to work, using gmail? I got the initial mail after setting it up, but after that, nothing. And I do have the "allow less secure apps" setting in my google account.

5 days uptime here on my ac3200 and running without any problems. Thanks Eric!

I set AI Protection yesterday and received the email from Google saying that it didn't like the logon, so I allowed less secure apps and have received 3 alerts today. So mine's working fine now.

The alerts aren't really useful. They have no relevant information. You are better looking at the new tabs included in the new code base.

I know that the 380.70 branch of code has been stable. This has been my fourth or fifth attempt to upgrade to the new code base. So far I've had to revert back to 380.70 every time. I even replaced every asus device with new equipment to try and get everything on the new code base in case it was an incompatibility issue between the different code base. This time i decided to give stock a try before going back to 380.70

so far i dirty flashed stock 3.0.0.4.384_21045 and everything has been stable. only time will tell. i did loose openvpn and dyndns settings. But everything is working and stable for now. I don't see the constant dhcpdiscover, dhcprequest, and no dhcpack over and over...and for now at least i havent' seen the error message "received packet on eth2 with own address as source address"

I may play with aimesh too and replace one of my repeaters with aimesh and see what happens.

Just an update in case it helps anyone else. My ac88 wireless has been pretty solid since trying out stock 3.0.0.4.384_21045 . So hopefully once the GPL for this gets released we can get an updated version of merlin that has the same fixes. I don't see any of the dhcp loops in my logs either. I am still seeing the error "received packet on eth1 with own address as source address" not sure what is causing that.

I also am trying aimesh and added an aimesh node in addition to the two repeaters. It appears to be working pretty solid, but its very annoying not being able to separate the SSID or get logs directly from the device like repeater mode. Not exactly a lot of options to configure either. I can't even tell what ssid the clients are connected to or at what speed, just that they are connected to the aimesh node. Can't even get into the menu, it redirects back to the core aimesh router. You can at least ssh into it should you decide you need to a full wipe though. I don't see how to un aimesh it anywhere in the menu.
