Just updated to 380.66 on the 3100 to see if my OpenVPN connectivity issue is resolved, but noticed the VOIP service is no longer working. Anyone else has VOIP issues or know how to fix this? there is no audio for incoming and outgoing calls.

VoIP working fine for me.

After installing 3.80.66 on my AC66, if I try to run a Shields Up "All Service Ports" test from grc.com, the modem reboots after the first 3 lines of ports are scanned. Tried several times. never had this problem before.

Apparently you're using settings that are incorrect due to the new OpenVPN version/build that is incorporated into Merlin's firmware ... And the external documention is out of date. So get to the newest release notes for the changes. Merlin is not to blame here...

These instructions are for TorGuard. But they have helped some PIA customers. Not sure who your provider is. But you may see something that helps you.

Once again excellent work RMerlin :)
I installed 380.66 on both my ac87u and ac68u only thing though there is still an issue connecting to the rt-ac87u route over 5ghz from an rt-ac68u setup in repeater mode. Works fine on 2.4ghz.
I guess the quantenna drivers havent had any updates

Any idea where and what to look for?
This suggestion sounds simple. But worth a try if nothing else helps.

Perhaps turn off all equipment and let it sit for ten minutes. Then power on the modem. After it has started, power on the router and let it settle for five minutes. Then start turning on the clients one by one, testing connectivity. Look at the network map page and see if clients are being assigned a valid IP address.

It is very unfortunate that you do not focus on the normal speed as you could not run the firmware at speeds of 1 gigabit and can not! Exception Firmware: 380.65_beta3 router model asus 88u which really pulls under 900 megabit

Talk to your ISP if they provide the modem.

This is usually provider and client-specific. In my particular case, I use a Cisco ATA to connect to my provider. I have no special router configuration. Make sure that WAN -> NAT Passthrough still has SIP Passthrough to "Enabled + NAT helper".

If your provider uses something different than SIP on port 5060 however then it might be more difficult to track down the cause. Some providers use IPSEC for instance.

I actually use PIA for my OpenVPN client tests now that a user donated a PIA account for that purpose. All you have to do is import the .ovpn file corresponding to the server you wish to connect to. Enter your username and password, then, click on Keys and Certificates, and paste the content of the CA and CRL files (also found in the OpenVPN zip file from PIA). After that apply your settings, then proceed with any custom changes such as policy-based routing.

You do not need to change anything in the Custom field - 380.66 can properly process the whole ovpn file provided by PIA.

Plenty of people are able to hit 900 Mbps with this firmware. Beside, there was zero change affecting performance between beta 3 and the other versions, so something else is at play on your setup. Make sure NAT acceleration is enabled, turn off your modem for 10-20 mins to reset the connection with the ISP, etc...

If I revert back to version RT-AC3100_380.65_4, VOIP works, the issue is only with the new version, so something is different and I can't find it.

That's funny, that's exactly the setting with which my VoIP stops working. :D My VoIP only works if the passthrough is set to "enable". That's also why I can't use the default firmware anymore, because only Merlin offers enable without NAT helper.

Last night, I lost WAN connectivity on my router with OpenVPN set to All Traffic. I did a reboot and it fixed it. This morning, my OpenVPN speeds were in the kilobit range and internet surfing was very slow. I did a factory reset and restore of gui and jffs partition using @john9527 nvram backup and restore utility and my OpenVPN speeds are some of the best they have been. It has been several releases since I did a factory reset. So, the router was probably over due. The VPN certificates do not get restored using the backup and restore utility. So be prepared to paste it back in after running the restore.
Both AC88U's had no internet connectivity this morning. I had no issues with the Beta releases. The error I get from Windows is "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings."

I also could not get internet access with iPad. No errors in System Log. I had to reboot the routers in order to restore internet access.

My bad. I meant to say the ROUTER reboots when I run Shields Up at grc.com.
You probably have to much logging enabled.

I don't have any logging enabled except the default Wireless Logging - but - you got me thinking about it, and I recently enabled DoS Protection. I turned it off, and the test succeeded. Thanks!

The error I get from Windows is "Windows could not automatically detect this network's proxy settings."

Is the error message still present after rebooting?

I have yet to find a solution for this error message, but the internet connection is not affected.

I think this 380.66 might be the cause for my chromecast audios going haywire. They appear and disappear randomly. I just downgraded to 380.65_4 and everything seems normal again.
