hey there fellas, first time posting anything so forgive me if this may be in the wrong place. to preface everything, i am at best (and that would be an overstatement of monumental proportions) stumbling my way through this thing you young guys call networks so again i apologize if the terminology or anything else is wrong but thought maybe this might be something someone would want to know or maybe not. i have an RT-AC88U flashed with the latest Merlin 384.13 and have been checking this option and unchecking that option again trying to stumble across the configs i need and came across this. in the admin tab > systems sections i enabled "network monitoring" and optioned ping google. after i left that and went to main page i see the wan connection says it is disconnected and my lit up icon top right corner is no longer lit up. however the led on the router is showing connection and my pc says connected so i blurt some random words at google to avoid bringing up something cached away and sure enough it brings up whatever page it was. next i think to bring up my most hated object the lte cellular router i have to use for internet and sure enough i can not bring it up now. maybe something to someone maybe not but figured may be an unintentional unknown bug or something so here it is. if maybe need some logs or something just say the word and i'll try to finger my way through and provide them.
Those network monitoring features on that page are having issues. I would not use them.

Anyone knows why am getting these msgs? I've moved from 380.70 to latest.

concerning to see the same MAC D4:2C:3D:1E:2E:F2 dropping connections. Any thoughts. This device is a security camera (Latern light)

Hi, just a brief note to share that my rt-ax88u w/Merlin 384.13 firmware is still running rock solid after 25 days. I am using it as a family router, with configured and in active use of VPN server, DHCP, DNSSEC, Media server, Samba, AIProtection, firewall, both wifi bands with a RP-AC68 in access point mode, transmission, diversion, .. and a set of about 15 regular clients / 45 approx total clients, including printers, ipcams, IPTV decoders, and game systems (Xbox/Wii). Android and apple phones and pads, and several computers.

So and again, thanks for this rock solid release!

Dear RMerlin do a fix for this error:
kernel: htb too many events!, — router AX88U. If it possible.
Try a factory reset and putting all the settings back manually.

Aslo the AX88U runs a 4.x.x.x kernel version, so the tick patch is obsolete.

Yes, of course. I don't upload old settings.
If it's the connection tracking error like the one I get, which is a limitation of Asus I read that somewhere in one of the threads.

Asus has up to 300K connections at settings, but show when it 3K.
It's possible wrong quantum settings by Asus qos, may be, I don't know.

There is a quantum error that alot of people get but you probably would be best off talking to @FreshJR about that.

Am I reading the change log correctly?
It seems to state that merlin recommend's using Asus stock firmware on the aimesh node rather than 384.13?

Just switched back to Merlin firmware (was using Asus firmware temporarily) and wondering if I should flash 384.13 or 45717 to the aimesh "node"?

@sdmf74

Recommendation is "stock" for the Nodes, and yes, to be safe do 45717 rather than the latest 81039 release, which seems to have issues.

Hi.
Interested in what bugs you have found. Our 81039 (we have 2) have been running flowless since Friday.

Are you using Aimesh?
Have you renamed any devices under client status? (The GUI stops loading every time it seems I do this. Also does it randomly as well)

I dont know if it is tied to aimesh or maybe just people using an 86u & a 68u or some other configuration but 81039 is slow & the GUI is freezing/failing to load and a factory reset, hard reboot etc. does not alleviate the issue.
Thats ok I needed a reason to come back to the superior merlin firmware anyway! I figured it was only a matter of time before Asus gave me one.

Here is a thread with many others reporting issues with the firmware. I opened a ticket with Asus about it and provided them with all the necessary logs but we all know how Asus tech support is .

Hi. (My configs are in my sign)

Yes, I'm using AiMesh. Using 86 as both master and node.
Yes, I have renamed some of my devices.
No problems with freezing what so ever
My ISP speed is 600/50 which I fully use.

Sorry If I was not much of a help...or maybe I was...

Dear all,
I noticed two things, one of which is not specific to this version.

1 The "Roaming assistant" doesn't seem to work properly when I'm in Airmesh mode (RT86U Master, RT68U Node). Forced Roaming (Roaming assistant) of my smartphone does not work. The set value -65dB is far below (-90db) according to the display on my mobile phone, but it still sticks to the node, even though the master is right next to me.

2. i have problems adding DoT server in the wan configuration page. I enter the address correctly into the mask, then click on Add and then on Apply. In many cases the server is not taken over and the field remains as it was before. There is also no error message in the log. Partly this also affects preconfigured configurations, which are simply not accepted. For example, I could not add Quad9 for a while (max number of entries was not reached either). After I tried it again two days later, it worked. A reboot of the router didn't help either. Any idea why that might be or does this problem also occur with others ?
I use a mixture of manually added DOT servers and Merlin preconfigured ones.

Any idea ?

Make sure a browser ad-blocker is not interfering with the router GUI pages.

Brilliant. AC87U dirty upgrade from 384.7_2 to 384.13_1 in one step - even forgot to pull the USB drive out of the back and it still upgraded.

NetworkMap appears to work as well as it ever did which is the reason for my protracted upgrade period (kept regressing as NetworkMap was even worse in intervening releases) - and yes I know this is Asus' fault. It's the first time in a long time I've seen my clients grouped by wired / 2.4 / 5.0 in a very long time.

Everything else also working well.

Thanks Eric !!! @RMerlin
