New Around Here
Hello,

I have a problem with connecting my PQI 500GB external USB 3.0 disk to RT-AC56U. It works correctly only via USB2.0 connector. When attached to USB3.0 it produces following error messages:

Nov 29 22:53:40 kernel: usb 2-1: new full speed USB device using ohci_hcd and
address 7
Nov 29 22:53:40 kernel: usb 2-1: device descriptor read/64, error -62
Nov 29 22:53:40 kernel: hub 2-0:1.0: unable to enumerate USB device on port 1

Tried both the latest Asus and RMerlin software.

Any hints ?

Thanks.

Make sure you disable the "USB 3.0 interference" option under Wireless -> Professional (2.4 GHz band) as some disks don't like it.

Could also be a cable issue.

Thanks RMerlin - it works now. I disabled USB 3.0 interference as you suggested. I'm quite happy but not everything is perfect. Wired upload transfer from my PC to the disk through samba is > 30MB/s. Superb. However download in opposite direction is only about 20MB/s. I expected something near 50MB/s. Well, I will notify Asus support about this case. They already asked for logs (quick response I must admit).

Log after successful mount:

Hello,
I had the same problem with RT-AC68U after upgrade of firmware from RT-AC68U_378.55_0 to RT-AC68U_380.57_0.
Changing of setting "USB 3.0 interference" option under Wireless -> Professional (2.4 GHz band) not helped.
I solved my problem by rollback to RT-AC68U_378.55_0 firmware.
