US bans sale of all *new model* non-US made wifi routers

They say nothing about the fact no new model router can be certified under current conditions.
I noticed that too. Everyone is avoiding saying it. Nothing is stopping current routers being sold.

Probably because nobody even knows for sure what is going to happen with yet-to-be-validated products. This is yet another very vague claim from the US administration that "we will do <insert something that wasn't fully thought of>", and everyone now has to wait for concrete plans to be announced. One common question for instance is "what qualifies as business product vs home product".

So all they can do for now is reassure their existing customers that everything is "business as usual" as far as any existing product goes.

JUst see this - this is the FCC chair...

This is more about his multiple threats that were made against broadcasters than the current router issues tho.

If a company like GL.iNet with products developed in China, manufactured in China and mostly based on SoC designed in Taiwan and manufactured in China gets an exemption - the whole story is about pay-to-play.

"We are preparing to apply for an exemption and are actively working through the next steps."

Not sure how is this even possible. It's like me applying for a pension coverage in Japan without meeting any of the listed requirements just based on the fact I have visited the country and like the view of Mt. Fuji.

Boy that could be awhile. I'm still waiting to see the health plan announced back in what 2015/16.
Could be it is still just concepts.

Seems they had a concept of a router ban that they acted on as well. I'm just absolutely dead tired of all this winning.

There will be R1™ for everyone. It may not exist yet, but it's already FCC certified.

As long as it's gold plated and assembled by US patriots, I'm all in for testing it with RTRHTR v2.5!
