When I compared the release notes to the release notes on several other routers which got patches for the Cyclops Blink router malware, I noticed that points 1 through 5 in these release notes have the same fixes in the firmware that was released to block the Cyclops Blink malware on the routers that were known to be vulnerable to that malware. However, point 5 adds two more security bugs that were fixed: CVE-2022-26673 and CVE-2022-26674.

EDIT: Fix wrong word

Found an issue with thise FW. Even with AI protection off the trendmicro malicious website blocking is on. Even if I enable AI protection and enable/disable that protection it keeps turned on. I found this issue because it triggered a false positive.

Was that also tested for with a full/proper reset?

I will say 5 GHz-2 has not dropped to 80 MHz so far. It hasn't been a full 24 hrs yet(flashed yesterday afternoon) but so far this is the longest I had it stay at 160 MHz. I need more time to test to be able to say if there is an improvement or not though

I have a friend with a GT-AX11000 with 49599, and about 1-2 times/day wifi drops for a few seconds. Is there an issue with GT-AX11000 wifi drops when 160 MHz bandwidth is enabled, or maybe this firmware has the bad driver discussed in other threads that causes wifi drops with some models, including the AX11000?

It's not very clear if the new driver is "bad" of it got "fixed" and following better DFS regulations. Your router has the same BCM43684 radios used in AX88U/AX86U + other models and I'm assuming the included in Asuswrt firmware Broadcom drivers are the same or close versions.

ok. I disabled 160 MHz bandwidth and enabled fixed channels on all bands (outside the DFS channel range for the 5 GHz bands), so we'll see if that fixes it. If not, I'll install 386.7_2, and see what that does.

Asuswrt-Merlin doesn't change/improve anything Wi-Fi. The drivers come from Broadcom via Asuswrt code base used for Asuswrt-Merlin. You can try different firmware versions on your router, but for AX86U with the same 5GHz radio I found stock Asuswrt 49599 the best. I'm not happy with 386.7_2 release. The previous stable release 386.5_2 works better in my tests. I had no time to test the new 388 firmware enough. Good luck.

Yes, I know that Merlin aims to only use the wireless drivers in the current Asuswrt GPLs, but as you know 386.7_2 is an exception to this for the AX88U and AX11000 where he installed an older wifi driver. Hence my interest in possibly testing 386.7_2 in my friend's AX11000. Interesting to hear that the wifi drivers in 49599 are working best for you in your AX86U. Makes me think that having 160 MHz enabled is the issue for my friend's AX11000.

one thing i caught the other day is if you manuallu assign devices onto the router, and you use any third party dns, it will drop wifi connections as manually assigned devices default to isp dns.

Double check this as my ax11000 and AX92U are solid now.

Ive been using the Nov 2021 Beta as its the lastest version avalible, hopefully the 2022 WRT will be releases for the AX92U and AX11000 soon
