Changelog just has:

380.61 alpha (xx-xxx-2016)
- NEW: Merged with GPL 3831.

I suspect there won't be more until a beta comes out.
lol I did check :p it didn't state the difference between alpha 1 and 2.

What you need to do then is see the changelog for GPL 3831. ;)

Upgraded from alpha1 to alpha2 this morning without a reset (~9am). No issues after the upgrade. When I got home from work (~9pm), I didn't have internet. router.asus.com wouldn't even resolve. Got to the ui through the ip address. No errors in the log (nothing at all after 2pm). Didn't see anything about a WAN disconnect or anything out of the ordinary. Couldn't get to the cable modem ui. Tried rebooting the RT-AC68P and got a message about the ISP DHCP having issues. Had to power cycle the cable modem. First time experiencing an issue like that.

Could have been an ISP issue if a modem reboot was required.

RMerlin, do you remember another thread, which I can't find right now, that I said about my memory usage goes up around 15MB per day until I can't access GUI? I still have this problem on Alpha1. I had it in 380.60beta2 but not 380.59. I will try Alpha2, but how do I check what is the real problem with increasing memory usage? Do I simply disable one function at a time?

I'll do my own testing when I find time (AC68) - but has anyone checked browser compatibility? For some reason when I open 380.59 in Chrome over a VPN it won't show the left navbar once I opened a detail page. Also noticed some odd OpenVPN account maintenance bugs that did not appear on IE

Something after the most recent "no going back firmware" has messed with something on PS4 again. I kept getting a fragmentation error in the PS4 connection test and am seeing rubberbanding in game. This didn't start until Asus released that no going back firmware. I've tried everything listed in other threads to no avail.

Currently running .61 Alpha2 on my 5300.

I would actually do it in reverse. Leave everything at defaults (yes, full reset with a minimal and manual configuration) and then add one feature or customization at a time.

When the memory usage starts to increase, I would then disable (one by one) any previous changes made to see if it is an interaction between two or more features, or, if it is really that one (last) feature or customization that was enabled or done that is starting to consume more and more memory.

This will be a slow process (depending how many features and customizations are being used), of course. And I would be leaving the router for two days or more between changes. But in the end, if you do track down the 'real' issue, it will be worth it. ;)

Including a full reset to factory defaults and then minimally and manually configuring the router afterwards? (Done after flashing the firmware you want to use).

You may also want to use john9527's NVRAM Save/Restore utility to save your settings in a text based (human readable) format too (among other great things it can do) before (and surely afterwards too).

Well, installing went smooth, so far it seems to work fine.

In relation to browser compatibility, it seems that Chrome (over a VPN) still breaks the admin site: left is screenshot using IE, right image is what I get in Chrome
I used the VPN page as an example, but this happens for all detail content pages.

Chrome; when you don't really want to surf the web. :)

The web gui seems particularly sensitive to some Chrome extensions....have you tried running Chrome with the extensions disabled?

hi everybody !!

i'm a new recent user of ASUS Router, and am now using the RT-N66U and as I was clearly advised by a friend of mine, I'm using the MERLIN AsusWRT Firmware and am very happy of it ...

First of all, I'd like to thank all the "Merlin Team" for the great job made for our routers !!

I'm using the 380.59 version at now and just discovered that there is an alpha2 release of 380.61.. I'll be installing and trying it a bit later tonight.

But I have a question : Why am I constantly getting a "Routing Error" when switching from OpenVPN Client #1 to OpenVPN Client #2, and also from #2 to #3 etc etc ?? Only way to get rid of that is to reboot the router.

Could it be because of the "base" of ASUSWRT or because of MERLIN enhancements ?? Please note that even with this error, the VPN #2 or #3 are working great ...

Is this something fixed in 380.61A2 ??

Thanks in advance for your help ...

Welcome!

After flashing to the firmware you're now using, did you do a minimal and manual configuration to secure the router and connect to your ISP?

http://www.snbforums.com/threads/ex...fi-adapter-vs-access-point.33840/#post-272747

I did the "Manual" setup, and reviewed all the settings personaly ... I set a new password for the "admin", newpasswords for the Wifi etc etc ...

I used the .ovpn files provided by my VPN provider to configure the VPN Servers. For the WAN connection, the router detected and used my ISP ADSL Box automatically and make the thing working perfectly !!

But the only thing weird is that "Routing Error" Message that appears each time I switched from an OpenVPN server to another one ... I looked at the routing table through SSH and it appears that some rules, set when connecting to VPN Server #1 remained in the list ... It is probably not normal and this is surely the reason of this error message ... Do you see what I mean ??

Since updating to Alpha2, I saw the RAM usage went from around 80MB to 150MB for around 1 minute and went back down. Is that normal? This did not happen in alpha1.
