Hi, I'm new to AB-Solution and deciding what lists to use.

I would like to block p2p sites. I noticed AB-Solution does not include the WRZ list.

Will it be added by default soon? How can I use it now?

---
Hostsfile.net WRZ (wrz.txt)
Download from https://hosts-file.net/wrz.txt
Description: This file contains warez/piracy sites listed in the hpHosts database This should ONLY be downloaded by those wanting to block warez/piracy sites and nothing else, and requires manual merging.

Thanks and regards,

How can I use it now?

You need to change the [b]locking file type in the Main Menu to Custom (or Custom+ if you're using Skynet as well) and copy/paste the url to the WRZ list (https://hosts-file.net/wrz.txt) into /mnt/<label of your usb-drive>/adblocking/custom_files/custom_hosts_lists.txt. After saving make sure you [u]pdate the blocking file from the AB-Solution Main Menu to make sure the newly added list is used.

Hello,

I have a quick question, since my last firmware update everytime i reboot the server I get a Unable to start Entwarein the log .

My work around is to start AB-Solution and this is what i'm getting

Welcome

This is AB-Solution 3.11.2

looking for an installation

found AB-Solution on /tmp/mnt/AB-Solution

checking installation state

--> Entware device change detected

--> fixing paths in files...

After that everything is wokring fine

Can you tell me if there is a permanenet fix for that

Thanks

It is label but it didnt change recently. This might be the problem you think how to i fix this . My USB is mount as AB-SOLUTION but for what ever reason its /dev/sdb5

Do you have two USB drives connected? ( One is 16 GB, second is 4000GB )

Looks like a corrupted file system to me on your 16GB ( sdb5 ) drive so a clean setup after formatting it is recommended.
Also try again after removing the 4000GB drive and see if that makes any difference.

I do have a 4T ON usb 3 port and 16gb on usb2, i did full reformat few months ago, but the problem persist. How can i rename sdb5 to sdb1 i think this is when my problem started

I don't think the path name matters.
Did you try after removing the 4TB drive?

Why do you have AB-Solution folder mounted on three different places? I never seen a partition like that.

I honestly recommend you to delete your partition on both drive, create Linux partition table on the drive you want to run Entware and format it as ext2/ext3/ext4 and install everything again from scratch.

Make sure to first setup everything properly on single drive mounted only.

Perhaps a dumb question, does the speed of the USB device where ab solution is installed matter much?
It does, and a slow device may affect performance a little.
With Entware and pixelserv-tls and other packages you may use it will be even more significant.
Think of it as having your operating system on a HDD or an SSD. Even a slow SSD outperforms a HDD at any time.

Thank you for the answer. And an even bigger thanks for ab solution.

Hello, I have some questions about the swap partition, I created one for the USB flash drive that I'm using,

I used this instruction for using the swap partition.
Using a swap partition
This method is not recommended if using USB storage with multiple partitions.

  1. Using your computer, create a linux-swap partition on your disk that will be mounted on the router. You can use GParted for linux, MiniTool Partition Wizard Home Edition for Windows or Disk Utility for MacOS;
  2. Connect the formatted drive to router and in PuTTY terminal use command fdisk -l to see how it was mounted. Let’s asume it is mounted as sda1;
  3. Again in PuTTY terminal use command swapon /dev/sda2 and then free to see if swap is correctly activated;
  4. If swap is correctly activated, use the script /jffs/scripts/post-mount with the command swapon /dev/sda2 as mentioned above.

#!/bin/sh
swapon /dev/sda1

My questions are:

1) The only part that I didn't get is the step 4, the command that I entered was /jffs/scripts/post-mount swapon /dev/sda2, then I don't know what to do with the following:

#!/bin/sh
swapon /dev/sda2

2) I have a RT-AC88U that has enough memory, do you think that having a swap for this router is really necessary?

3) Does ab-solution auto detects and mounts the Swap partition on its own?

4) and in case that I don't want to use the swap partition, how do I undo what I did or delete the script?

No need for any external softwares to create the swap file. AB-Solution have the ability to do it for you.

Open AB-Solution and enter "sm" to enter sub menu and from there enter "swap" to create or manage the swap file without any hassle.

Regarding if you need swap file or not depends on how you use your router, what blocking file is being used and how many Entware packages are currently installed etc.

Yes, I noticed that, but I had a Swap partition even before that option was added , I only wanted to put it in use and not waste the partition.

I looks like I did everything good, I only need to know how to make it to mount the swap at boot
